City to receive funds for housing project
“I’d like to thank Governor Lamont and the members of the commission for including this project in this round of bonding.” State Rep. Maria Horn
TORRINGTON — The state Bond Commission recently approved $4 million for TCB Connecticut to build a community center and do renovations at Northside Terraces, an apartment complex.
The Northside Terraces is an apartment complex located in Torrington. The funding will be used to finance the construction of a community center on the property, as well as renovations for the existing buildings. The money allocated to TCB Connecticut, Inc. is a loan for programs under the Housing Trust Fund.
State Reps. Michelle Cook, D-Torrington, and Maria Horn, D-Salisbury, said they were pleased to learn about the funding.
“I’d like to thank Governor Lamont and the members of the commission for including this project in this round of bonding,” Horn said. “The money allocated will allow Northside Terraces to make much needed upgrades to their buildings. The creation of a community center is incredibly important — it will encourage comradery and help develop a friendly atmosphere among neighbors.
“The funding headed to Northside Terraces in Torrington will help enhance the quality of life residents can enjoy while also improving the safety of the buildings and property,” said Cook. “I want to extend my gratitude to Governor Lamont, Secretary McCaw and members of the commission for their consideration of this project and their support in approving funding for it.”
