Monday Morning Artists present ‘Eclectic Collective’
KENT — The Kent Memorial Library presents the Eclectic Collective, an art show by the local Monday Morning Artists Group, on display through Feb. 28.
The show, curated by Carla Shere, will feature works in various mediums by the following 15 local artists: Karen Bahrenburg, Dorli Di Gregorio, Beth Dooley, Connie Freer, Connie Horton, Sue Lopardo, Halstead Lovig, Joan Macfarlane, Xiang MacFarlane, Roz Molho, Tamara Muscarell, Carla Shere, Jane Sirovica, Patsy Stroble, and Trudy Walter.
The Monday Morning Artists Group is affiliated with the Kent Art Association; members meet there every Monday morning.
When asked about their group, Dorli Di Gregorio said, “We are a group of women artists, who meet Monday mornings to work in pastel, watercolor, acrylic, oil and pen/ink. Maggie Smith, a retired Art teacher in the 1990's, started the group. It has changed over the years as some members passed on and are fondly remembered, while new artists continue to join the group.
“Currently, Connie Horton, also a retired art teacher who was President of the Kent Art Association for many years, encourages and guides us,” she said. “Some members started learning to draw and paint past middle age, while others have made art their entire lives. The best thing about the group is the support all of us give to one another. We like painting on Mondays to start our week positively. There is ‘magic’ in the art of creation.”
