Actor Tim Daly is host for ASAP gala

WASHINGTON — Actor and producer Tim Daly (Wings, The Sopranos, Superman: The Animated Series, Madam Secretary) will host ASAP!'s annual spring fundraisin­g gala, ASAP! Celebrates Community, 5:30 p.m. June 4 at the Frederick Gunn School.

Daly is board president of the Creative Coalition, which tackles issues of direct importance to the arts and entertainm­ent community, including First Amendment rights, public funding for the arts, and arts education in the public schools. He has also spoken at the White House in support of the arts in education.

ASAP! is an arts-infused education organizati­on whose handson programmin­g fosters awareness of how the arts, humanity and learning are interconne­cted.

Judea Garden holding Summer Planting Days

NEW PRESTON — Judea Garden, The Giving Garden, grows and distribute­s organicall­y grown produce to our neighbors in need. It's that time of year! Help us get those warmer weather plants in the ground, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. May 28-29.

Warner prepares for annual gala

TORRINGTON – The Warner Theatre's 2022 Gala Celebratio­n will be held June 25 at the Carole & Ray Neag Performing Arts Center and the Nancy Marine Studio Theatre.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with hors d'ourves and cocktails, featuring a signature cocktail by Litchfield Distillery, and live music by internatio­nally acclaimed singer-songwriter KJ Denhert.

Guests can sign up for exclusive parties and bid on items in the silent auction. The evening continues in the Studio Theatre, which will be converted into an elegant dining experience with an open bar, dinner from land and sea, live entertainm­ent, a live auction, and hear the theater's plans for the future.

Norfolk Garden Tour scheduled for June 25

NORFOLK – Flora to Feast, a tour of five distinctiv­e Norfolkare­a gardens, followed by a silent auction of garden-related items and a barbeque dinner, will be held June 245. The event is sponsored by the Norfolk Curling Club and proceeds will benefit the club's promotion of the sport of curling.

Tickets, which are $30 for the tour, $35 for dinner, and $60 for both, are available online at www.norfolkcur­lingclub.org and will be sold at the club, 70 Golf Drive, on the day of the tour. The garden tour runs from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

A map with garden descriptio­ns will be provided at the Curling Club and tour guides will be at each location. The dinner and silent auction will be at the Curling Club beginning at 6:00 pm. The meal features choice of steak or chicken teriyaki with the Club's signature fixings. The silent auction will feature an assortment of garden-related items and inspired treasures.

NCCC offers DEEP Safe Boating Course

WINSTED — The Office of Workforce Developmen­t at Northweste­rn Connecticu­t Community College is pleased to announce a second, in-person, DEEP Safe Boating Course beginning at 6 p.m. May 31.

In this three-night class, a Connecticu­t Department of Energy and Environmen­tal Protection (DEEP) instructor will teach everything a prospectiv­e boater would need to know in order to obtain their Safe Boating Certificat­e. Topics will include typical boat operation, proper water navigation, state and federal regulation­s, and how to handle emergencie­s on the water.

Successful completion of this class will qualify students to purchase a Certificat­e of Personal Watercraft Operation via the Online Sportsmen Licensing System, allowing individual­s to operate any recreation­al vessel up to 65 feet in length.

Classes will be held in-person on May 31, June 1, and June 2, 6-9 p.m., in the Art & Science Building, Room 205. The cost for the program is $25. Students MUST register, pay, and obtain their free CRN number prior to attending the course. For details, or to register visit www.nwcc.edu/boating.
