What you need to know: Yale dominated on both sides of the ball to beat Cornell 38-14 and earn its first win of the season last weekend. Osorachukwu Ifesinachukwu had two sacks for the second week in a row and Hamilton Moore added six tackles along with a sack, giving the Bulldogs nine sacks in two games. Quarterback Nolan Grooms was efficient ,completing 12 of 17 passes for 187 yards and two touchdowns while wide receiver Mason Tipton had seven receptions for 133 yards.
NORFOLK STATE AT SACRED HEART

What you need to know: After allowing 21 points in the first quarter, Sacred Heart battled back to beat Dartmouth 38-31 in overtime last week for its first win over the Big Green in 10 years. Sacred Hart also ended Dartmouth’s 20-game non-conference winning streak, which was the longest in the FCS. Marquez McCray was electric for the Pioneers, completing 31 of 36 passes for 274 yards. Malik Grant also led the offense with 103 yards on 20 carries and was responsible for Sacred Heart’s final three touchdowns.

What you need to know: CCSU’s Nasir Smith posted his first 100-yard rushing game of the season and the second of his career when he rushed for 108 yards on 23 carries and one touchdown in a loss to Albany last week. Erik Surrat had a career-best 98 yards and caught two touchdowns in the loss. On the defensive end, Chizi Umunakwe and Jahlil Brown had nine tackles each.

What you need to know: New Haven has won three in a row after dropping its opener to Bowie State. The Chargers followed a convincing 54-26 victory over American International two weeks ago with a strong defensive effort in a 21-13 win over Bentley. On a play that sealed the game for UNH in the fourth quarter, defensive end Jack Quander stripped the ball before linebacker David Onyeman recovered the fumble and ran 34 yards for a touchdown.

What you need to know: The Owls defense recorded four interceptions, led by a pair from Ben Eichman, while Stamford’s Ja’Kai Young and Bridgeport’s Navaughn Austin also had one interception each in a loss to Saint Anselm last week. Southern led 14-3 in the first half but was outscored 21-0 in the second half as the Owls remained winless . The defense will be tested by Assumption, which recorded 273 yards rushing against Pace last week.

What you need to know: Wesleyan had 403 yards of total offense despite losing to Middlebury 24-10 last Saturday. The Cardinals leaned on Ashton Scott for his arm and his legs, as he was 19 of 41 for 253 yards and led Wesleyan with 25 yards rushing. The Cardinals lone touchdown came when wideout Logan Tomlinson, a former quarterback at Manchester High, took a backward pass from Scott before throwing a 22-yard touchdown pass to tight end Ezra Jenifer. Tomlinson also had nine receptions for 146 yards.

What you need to know: Trinity and Colby were scoreless at the half last week, but West Haven’s Tyler DiNapoli took over with 189 yards rushing and two touchdowns to lead the Bantams to a 19-7. Quarterback Spencer Fetter was 19 of 25 for 229 yards and two touchdowns as Trinity won its home opener.
