The former Eastern Connecticut State star Patrick Agyemang and the three-time first team AllIvy goalkeeper for Yale Elian Haddock were both selected in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft on Wednesday. UConn’s top scoring striker Frantz Pierrot was also drafted in the third round.

Charlotte FC and Colorado Rapids agreed on a trade during draft night where Charlotte got the No. 12 pick in this year’s draft which the franchise used to select Patrick Agyemang. In return, Colorado received the First-Round Pick in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft, $50,000 in Conditional General Allocation Money (GAM) and $50,000 in 2023 GAM.

Agyemang played one season for Eastern Connecticut before transferring to Rhode Island University.

He recorded 19 goals and 12 assists in 37 matches with the Rams, earning the East Hartford graduate a 2022 First Team All-Conference selection. As the 12th overall pick, Agyemang becomes Rhode Island’s highest-ever draftee and the program’s first since the New York Red Bulls selected Stavros Zarokostas with the 62nd pick in 2020.

Haddock was drafted by the Red Bulls with the 21st overall pick in the SuperDraft and was the second goalkeeper to be selected. He served as team captain for the Bulldogs in 2021 and 2022, marking the first two-time men’s soccer captain at Yale since 1947.

Pierrot was selected by the Houston Dynamo in the third round as the 63rd overall pick. The Merrimack transfer led the Huskies in goals (5), shots on goal (19) and points (12). He started in 13 of UConn’s 16 games and became the 40th player in program history to be drafted in the MLS.
