The Register Citizen (Torrington, CT)
Note for readers of The Register Citizen
To our readers:
As we continue our steadfast commitment to serve Torrington area residents with vital local news, Hearst Connecticut Media Group has also further deepened its community and statewide coverage.
From broadening the range of topics our newsrooms cover to evolving online reader experiences, we remain invested in providing the very best journalism to you, our valued subscriber of The Register Citizen.
While we continue to fortify our online news offerings via registercitizen.com, we also remain committed to publishing quality print newspapers.
However, as reader preferences continue to shift to online and industry headwinds create challenges for carrier delivery, we will be changing the frequency of The Register Citizen print edition to help navigate these changes.
As such, Sunday, March 12, will be the last day of 7-day-a-week carrier delivery for print customers.
From there, The Register Citizen will move to a robust, one-day-aweek print publication on Fridays, delivered to your home by the U.S. Postal Service at the earliest on Friday, and by Saturday at the latest, of each week.
The online e-edition, the digital replica of the print newspaper, will also be available once a week.
Reading news daily online via registercitizen.com, with dozens of stories each day in your community and beyond, will continue to be part of your subscription — with digital newsletter offerings and more covering everything from local breaking news to key topics you most enjoy.
It is with a firm commitment that The Register Citizen will continue covering the most important and interesting stories in your community each day on registercitizen.com, the CT Insider app and weekly print edition, which is also available via e-edition on registercitizen.com.
Your print subscription includes access to all of these features, as well as the entire Hearst Connecticut Media Group digital library of more than 20 newspaper titles and Connecticut Magazine.
In addition to the most extensive coverage of the Torrington community, you’ll find the most comprehensive award-winning daily journalism in the state.
Our network is made up of around 150 journalists, reporting on important issues in your area and beyond.
Subscribers have access to bestin-the-state coverage of breaking news, investigative reporting that holds powerful people and institutions accountable, the largest state politics team in Connecticut, leading coverage of high school and UConn sports, exclusive business and consumer news and captivating features.
You also have access to our lineup of columnists and writers who know the area and state as well as any, including Jeff Jacobs, just named Sportswriter of the Year in Connecticut for the 11th time, politics columnist Dan Haar, food writer Leeanne Griffin and columnists Colin McEnroe and Susan Campbell.
The change from traditional carrier delivery to a one-day-a-week print publication schedule stems from both long-term trends affecting the newspaper industry, as well as cost increases and labor shortages in the current economy.
We believe USPS delivery will provide Torrington-area readers with efficient and consistent delivery each week right to your mailbox.
As always, we are grateful to you for your commitment to us and will never take that for granted.
We’re confident that the change we are making will enhance our ability to serve you and the Torrington community.
We thank you for your continued support and look forward to telling the stories you value.
