SHARON PLAYHOUSE ANNOUNCES 2023 SEASON

- STAFF REPORTS

SHARON — The Sharon Playhouse has announced its performance lineup for the 2023 season, featuring Broadway talent, television and local actors from Litchfield, Dutchess, Westchester and Columbia counties, and tickets are on sale now.

“We’re incredibly excited for our 2023 season lineup with two sought-after musicals, two thought-provoking plays, and four inspiring youth theater productions. The Sharon Playhouse truly has something for everyone,” said Managing Director Rod Christensen, in a statement.

The 2023 summer-to-fall lineup will include the playhouse’s premiere of the musical comedy, “Something Rotten,” by John O’Farrell, Karey and Wayne Kirkpatrick, showing from June 23-July 3.

Next up is the musical classic, “Oliver!” by Lionel Bart, Aug. 4-14. The next production is “Our Town” by Thornton Wilder, followed by “The Lifespan of a Fact” by Jeremy Kareken, David Murrell, and Gordon Farrell, running from Sept. 19 to Oct. 15.

This summer, the playhouse will offer four youth theater productions: “Peter and the Starcatcher,” “A Year With Frog and Toad,” “Kids,” and Disney’s “Newsies Jr.,” with Sharon Playhouse stars.

By popular demand, the Sharon Playhouse will present its staged readings, which, like last season’s “The Scarlet Letter” by Kate Hamill with Gretchen Mol and Tim Blake, and “Marie Antionette” by David Adjmi with Lauren Ambrose, “will be sure to engage and delight its audiences,” members said.

In addition to the mainstage productions, reading series, and youth theater programming, the Playhouse plans to bring even more special events, cabarets, concerts, and community engagement to the town of Sharon and beyond, making it a year-round theater for all.

The Sharon Playhouse is a regional, nonprofit theater producing high-quality performances with Broadway-caliber actors as well as talented local community members. Its mission is to entertain the community of Northwest Connecticut and beyond, while also serving as a teaching theater to encourage aspiring actors and other theater artists of all ages to develop their craft, according to members
