GAMES TO WATCH

Read it before the year’s first real snowfalls muck up all these tournament schedules... oops, too late:

CCC North and South: Semifinals Wednesday at higher seeds, finals Friday at Freitas Ice Forum. Simsbury rolled through the season until it lost to Northwest Catholic, which followed with a win over Notre Dame-Fairfield, and the other two North Division competitors both beat the Lions. Should be fun. The South Division tournament includes four of the top eight teams (at this writing, at least) in Division III, including last year’s CIAC finalists, Newington co-op and Conard.

SCC/SWC Division I: Fairfield Prep vs. Notre Dame-West Haven at Bennett Rink, Friday, 6 p.m. The first state blemish on the Green Knights’ record was Fairfield Prep’s 5-1 win on Feb. 18. That followed a 6-1 Notre Dame win over the Jesuits in early January. They could meet one more time in the state final.

SCC/SWC Division II (at Bennett Rink): Semifinals Wednesday, 5:30/7:30 p.m.; final Friday, 8 p.m. North Haven has been ranked in the top 10 all year. Branford dealt the Nighthawks their only in-state loss. Then again, Watertown/ Pomperaug beat Branford in the regular season. And Guilford beat WP.

SCC/SWC Division III (at the Rinks at Shelton): Semifinals Wednesday; final Friday, 4:45 p.m. Masuk hasn’t lost to a Division III team all season. Those top eight or nine teams in Division III we mentioned in the CCC? Four of the other five are here, including the top two.

FCIAC Division I: Semifinals Wednesday at higher seeds; final Saturday at Danbury Ice Arena. Greenwich bounced defending champion Ridgefield in the first round and now has a crack at top-seed Darien. Fairfield and New Canaan meet in the other semi.

FCIAC Douglas J. Robinson Tournament (at the Rinks at Shelton): Semifinals Thursday; final Saturday,

8:30 p.m. Moved back two days because of Tuesday’s weather, four Division II or Division III teams meet. Maybe appropriately for a tournament honoring the late Stamford coach, Westhill/Stamford is the favorite.

Nutmeg Hockey Conference: Semifinal Friday, Eastern Connecticut Eagles at Tri-Town (Enfield Twin), 7 p.m.; final Saturday at Woodstock Academy (Pomfret), 6 p.m. These were, at least at the start of the week, tentative. Woodstock has been a strong DII team all season.

CIAC tournament: Brackets appear Friday. Games start Monday.
