Eagles bring back Maclin for 1 year

-

Maclin’s deal is worth $6 million, including $3.5 million guaranteed. Though Maclin wouldn’t say how far apart he and the Eagles were on the five-year talks, the Eagles signed wide receiver Riley Cooper to a five-year, $25 million pact with $8 million guaranteed.

Cooper was coming off a career season. Maclin led the Eagles in receiving the year before he blew out his right ACL at Chip Kelly’s first training camp.

Maclin (6-0, 198) caught 69 passes for 857 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in 2012. He’s among eight NFL receivers with at least 55 catches and 750 receiving yards in his first four seasons.

Maclin has undergone multiple surgeries on the right ACL. He might not be cleared to practice in the first minicamp this April.

But Maclin, now 6 1-2 months into his rehab, says he’s running, cutting, lifting “and I’m happy.”

“I feel pretty good about where I am,” Maclin said, adding there’s “no doubt” he’ll be a fullgo for training camp.

Roseman also is comfortable it won’t be an issue for the 2009 firstround pick out of Missouri.

“We have full confidence,” Roseman said, “that once the season starts he’s going to be ready to go full speed.”

Maclin said he wanted to be with the Eagles but conceded he gauged what it would be like in free agency. A small handful of teams were rumored to be interested, including the New York Jets.
