Trinity Lutheran Church: The fourth PA Hometown Hero Walk in Lansdale will take place June 13 to honor the service of all veterans and help Pennsylvan­ia veterans in need. It starts and ends at Trinity, 1000 W. Main St. Registrati­on is from 8:30 to 10 a.m., with the walk stepping off at 10:30. Congregati­on Beth Or: The 10th annual Oy Vey 5K, which gets underway at 8:30 a.m. June 14 at 239 E. Welsh Road, Upper Dublin, will include a 10K run this year. Run the 5K, do the one-mile walk, see the Strugglin’ Juggler run the 5K and enjoy face painting, carnival games and a smoothie truck. Flag Day

Little Zion Lutheran Church: A “Changing of the Colors” semi-annual Flag Day observance happens after the 10:15 a.m. service June 14. The memorial to veterans — including three church members who served during the War for Independen­ce — involves flying the 13-star American flag. On Veteran’s Day Sunday in November, the traditiona­l, 50-star flag is raised again. Flag Day Sunday will feature the presentati­on of a skit, “Miss Betsy Ross and her Second 13-Star Flag,” which will involve church members and the church’s Scout troop. Doylestown Presbyteri­an Church: At 4 p.m. June 14 in the Sanctuary, Mechanics Street, Doylestown, will be a Flag Day Patriotic Concert with the DPC Chancel and Youth Choirs, the DPC Orchestra, and for the first time, the Bucks County Ecumenical Choir. Kathryn Whitaker, soprano is the guest soloist, and DPC’s Director of Music and the Arts, David J. Fitzpatric­k, will conduct. Current and former members of all branches of the military and their fami- lies are encouraged to attend. A free will offering will be received and a reception will follow the concert. Boy Scout Troop 48 will collect old and tattered flags for proper disposal. The Bucks County Ecumenical Choir is comprised of members from Calvary Chapels, Doylestown Presbyteri­an, Lenape Valley Presbyteri­an, New Life Christian, Saint Paul’s Episcopal (Doylestown), Saint Paul’s Lutheran (Doylestown), Saint Martin of Tours, and Warminster Presbyteri­an Churches. Also, check out the art show “Patriotism through Art,” featuring works of artists from the Upstairs Gallery in Lahaska, in the Celtic Cross Room. These works will be on display through July 5 and are available for viewing whenever the building is open.

Corpus Christi Catholic Church: The Guardians, a monthly support group for fathers of all ages, as well as single fathers, provides opportunit­ies for members to learn from one another by sharing their insights about challenges they face in married and family life, in the workplace and in their spiritual life. Church of the Holy Spirit: The Episcopal church at Sumneytown Pike at Barndt Road, Upper Salford, will recognize graduates at the Eucharist services at 8 and 10:15 a.m. on Sunday. It will be the last day of Sunday school for children, and the teachers will be recognized. An all-church picnic will follow the later service. The adult study on “Embracing Emergence Christiani­ty” will finish on June 7. The summer schedule will begin June 14, with Eucharist services at 8 and 9:30 a.m. Sundays. St. Peter’s Lutheran Church: The Holy Communion service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday will feature music by St. Peter’s Belles and a Fathers Day tool drive to help with a July mission trip to rebuild Hurricane Sandy damage in New Jersey. Trinity Lutheran Church: A Community FEAST meal is offered every Wednesday starting at 5 p.m. Enjoy a hot meal and fellowship with others from the community. All are welcome. The church is at 1000 W. Christ Covenant Church: A free community hot breakfast for the public is served from 8 to 10 a.m. the last Saturday of every month in the church’s fellowship hall, 2200 Mainland Road (formerly Sumneytown Pike), Towamencin. Shepherd’s Shelf: The Shepherd’s Shelf Food Cupboard at Christ Lutheran Church, 2211 Mainland Road, Towamencin, served 260 families in 2014. In April the Shepherd’s Shelf served 112 households consisting of 310 people (158 adults, 119 children and 33 seniors). The following items are needed at this time: Baby food and baby formula, toilet paper, shampoo, toothpaste, soap, canned or dry cat food. All donations are appreciate­d and can be dropped off at the Christ Lutheran Church Annex Building. Items especially needed in restocking their food pantry are: children’s toothbrush­es and toothpaste, children’s sunblock, canned meats (chicken, salmon, Spam), canned soups (all kinds), spaghetti sauce and canned tomatoes, pasta, peanut butter and jelly, canned fruit and vegetables, raisins and all dried fruit (snack size preferred), rice, shampoo, soap, deodorant, tissues, toilet paper, dry cat food and diapers (size 4, 5, 6 and pull ups). Jewish Social Policy Action Network: The Philadelph­ia-based JSPAN announced in a press release that its board of directors voted May 18to endorse two transgende­r rights bills now before the Pennsylvan­ia House of Representa­tives. JSPAN is “a Jewish voice for progressiv­e social change, working in the spirit of Tikkun Olam, the betterment of the world, to advance equality and opportunit­y for all, and protect the constituti­onal liberties and civil rights of Jews and other minorities, and the weak in our society.” Missionari­es of the Gospel of Life: A Rosary Rally for God’s Marriage begins at noon June 13at Montgomery County Courthouse at Main and Swede streets, Norristown.
