Irwin L. Derstine Sr. of Sellersville
Irwin L. Derstine, Sr., 77, of Sellersville, PA, formerly of Souderton, PA, entered into rest unexpectedly on Monday, January 25, 2016 at his residence.
He was the loving husband of the late MaryElla (Merrick) Derstine for 56 years. Irwin was born in Franconia, PA to the late Irwin & Lizzie (Landis) Derstine.
He was employed as a Mechanic for American Olean Tile Company in Lansdale and for Merck.
Sharpe Dohme in West Point, PA for 24 years, until retiring in 1994. Irwin then worked part-time at Calvary Church of Souderton. He was a former member of the Harleysville Game, Fish and Forestry Association, Inc. and a former member of Earl Bowl Men’s Bowling League in Telford, PA. Irwin was a member of Calvary Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Cynthia A. Grabowski & husband, Michael of Telford, PA, and Kelly J. Mininger & husband, Jon of Souderton, PA; a son, Irwin L. Derstine, Jr. of Harleysville, PA; seven grandchildren – Michael, Michelle, Tonya, Jenna, Tiffany, Teanna & Sergio; three greatgrandchildren – Breana, Braydon & Gianna; six brothers, Harold Derstine & wife, Ruth of Franconia, PA, John Derstine & wife, Mary of Downingtown, PA, Russell Derstine & wife, Janet of Lebanon, PA, Earl Derstine & wife, Janice of Telford, PA, Henry Derstine & wife, Donna of Harleysville, PA, and David Derstine of Phoenix, AZ; and five sisters, Sarah Delp of Lansdale, PA, Catherine “Cass” Anders of Telford, PA, Eva Kratz & husband, Curtis of Souderton, PA, Mary Manning & husband, Bill of Lansdale, PA, and BettyAnn Kerr & husband, Rodney of Franconia, PA.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Rowan Delp & Donald “Don” Anders.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 1, 2016 at 11:00 am at Calvary Church, 820 Souderton Road (Route 113), Souderton, Pennsylvania 18964 where friends may meet with the family from 9:00 am – 11:00 am.
