Cops: Philly man decorated Lansdale holding cell with Burger King meal
Daquan Tucker, 19, charged with institutional vandalism for alleged tantrum involving cheeseburger, wet toilet paper, ‘unknown fluids’
LANSDALE >> Lansdale police say a 19-year-old Philadelphia man expressed his displeasure at being held on drug charges by decorating his holding cell and other parts of the cell block with wet toilet paper and most of the contents of a Burger King meal provided to him by cops.
Daquan Kennard Tucker, of the 200 block of East Montana Street, was charged Thursday with one count of misdemeanor institutional vandalism in connection with the alleged events of April 15 at the Lansdale police station.
Lansdale police said that Tucker was brought to the station by Telford cops that afternoon after a drug-related arrest and lodged in a cell while awaiting arraignment. Shortly thereafter, according to court documents, Tucker began spitting all over the cell, including on a cell camera, and threw toilet water all over the cell before covering the camera with wet toilet paper.
Officers shut off the water to the cell and warned Tucker that if he continued, he would be charged with institutional vandalism, to which he allegedly replied, “I don’t care!” and kept throwing toilet water around, according to the criminal complaint.
That night, Tucker was given dinner from a nearby Burger King, but Tucker started throwing french fries and pieces of cheeseburger around the cell and into the cell block hallway, police said.
Tucker also created “some form of adhesive using unknown fluids or substances” to plaster the Burger King bag and the cheeseburger wrapper to the walls of his cell, police said.
The cell block was shut down so that a cleaning crew could clean and sanitize the area, according to police.
Police did not specify whether the cheeseburger was a Whopper or a different menu item.
Tucker is due in Lansdale district court on May 23 for a preliminary hearing in the matter.
Records indicated Friday that Tucker is behind bars in Bucks County jail in lieu of 10 percent of $35,000 cash bail in the Telford drug case. Details of that arrest were not immediately available, but Tucker has been charged with multiple counts of felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and other offenses.
