Registration now open for annual ‘Forget Me Knot’ 5K, 1-mile walk
LOWER GWYNEDD >> Foulkeways at Gwynedd will host its second annual “Forget Me Knot” 5K and 1 mile walk on Saturday, April 29 beginning at 9 a.m.
The proceeds from this event will benefit residents in Montgomery County — as well as surrounding counties and Foulkeways residents — by bringing personalized music on iPods to those who may be caring for family members dealing with severe memory loss.
All ages are welcome. Registration is $20 for adults and $10 for children 16 years old and younger.
Warfel Construction is the premier sponsor. Other sponsors include Computer Solutions, Flik Lifestyles, and Wool Whisperers. Donors also include Arthur Warner, Born to Run, David and Patricia Ann Long, Encore Rehabilitation Services, Harbor Linen, North Wales Podiatry, and Verizon.
Listening to music has a remarkable ability to combat memory loss and restore a deep sense of one’s self, which led Dan Cohen to start Music & Memory, a nonprofit organization that brings personalized music into the lives of the elderly through digital music technology. Susan Schulz, Foulkeways director of A=activities, brought this program to Foulkeways in 2015, and this year, Foulkeways residents, staff, families, and sponsors are bringing the program to the larger community with the second annual Forget Me Knot event.
Situated catty-corner from the William Penn Inn at 1120 Meetinghouse House Road in Gwynedd, Foulkeways has an entrance off Sumneytown Pike as well as Meetinghouse Road.
To register visit www. foulkeways.org, call 215283-7339, or email KimberlyM@Foulkeways.org.
Space is limited to the first 300 registrants.
Cheerleaders will line the running and walking route with cowbells, rain or shine.
