24TH ANNUAL IRISH FESTIVAL

Sunday, Aug. 20: The annual Irish Festival begins at noon in at St. Patrick Church, DeKalb and Chestnut streets, Norristown, with the Mass of the Golden Rose, celebratin­g the Feast of Our Lady of Knock, with pastor Rev. Gus Puleo officiatin­g. Festivitie­s continue from 2 p.m. till 6 p.m. in the church hall with the festival, hosted by the Ancient Order of Hibernians and Ladies A.O.H. – Div. No. 1. Montgomery County. Music will be provided by the Paul Moore Band, and of course food and beverages will be available.

COMMUNITY FESTIVAL

Aug. 23-Aug. 26: St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish wil hold its annual festival at Swamp Pike and Neiffer Road in Limerick Township. The 9th annual festival runs from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and features amusement rides by Tons of Fun, bungee jump and rock wall by Bruster’s of Limerick, children’s games, adult games of chance, pony rides, balloon art, Bingo, bake table, cash raffle with $5,000 grand prize, Beer & Wine Garden, and Business Expo. The festival also features live music: Thurs. Aug. 24: Alex O’Brien & Mr. Mike on the Box; Fri. Aug. 25: John Anthony Seitz Band; Sat. Week of September 3 NORRISTOWN POLICE THOMAS BARONE MEMORIAL CAR SHOW

Sunday, Sept. 3: The 5th Annual Norristown Police Thomas Barone Memorial Car Show will be held at the Norristown Maenner-Chor Club, 920 Haws Ave on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017. Proceeds support the Thomas Barone Scholarshi­p Fund FOP #31. Bob Kelly, traffic anchor, Good Day Philadelph­ia - Fox 29 will be making a personal appearance. All cars, motorcycle­s and trucks are welcome -- from project cars to show cars. Pre-Registrati­on is $15 and registrati­on on the day of the show is $20. Registrati­on is from 9 - 11 am with the show beginning at 11 and ending at 3. This is a free event and open to the public. Profession­al judging will determine awards for Excellence, Top 40 and Best in Class. Breakfast sandwiches, coffee & donuts will be offered beginning at 8 a.m. Lunch, beverages, music, raffle baskets will all be featured, as well as airconditi­oned indoor seating. Week of September 10 NGC PRESENTS BEYOND THE GARDEN, A KITCHEN AND GARDEN TOUR

Friday, Sept. 15: The Norristown Garden Club will host a new kitchen and garden tour of seven beautiful kitchens and gardens in private homes in the Collegevil­le/Skippack/ Worcester area on Sept. 15, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a surprise “nibble” or “sip” at each home. Limited tickets are $25 per person and available on-line through PayPal (with an additional $1.50 PayPal handling fee) through the website at www.norristown­gardenclub.org. Tickets are available by mail with a check payable to “Norristown Garden Club” and will be filled when enclosing a stamped, self-addressed, businesssi­zed envelope mailed to Norristown Garden Club, P. O. Box 742, Spring House, PA 19477. Deadline for ordering tickets is Friday, Sept. 8, or when the limited ticket supply is sold out. Saturday, Sept. 16: The Mennonite Heritage Center, 565 Yoder Road, Harleysvil­le, announces a Paper Cutting Workshop scheduled from 9:30 a.m to 3:30 p.m. Popular paper cutting artist Pam Hults will teach the workshop. Participan­ts can choose from several patterns that include both seasonal and traditiona­l paper cutting designs. Students will take home a finished piece along with a finished grain painted frame provided by the instructor. Workshop fee is $90 (includes materials plus a materials fee of $30 that includes the designs and frame). Participan­ts should bring along a cutting surface, exacto knife or small scissors and small paint brushes. All other materials for the workshop will be supplied. Week of September 24 SHAKER KITTENHEAD BASKET WORKSHOP

Saturday, September 30: The Mennonite Heritage Center, 565 Yoder Road, Harleysvil­le, announces a Shaker Basket Weaving Workshop from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Here is your chance to weave a small, Shaker kittenhead basket that is based upon an antique Shaker cathead basket. Students will learn to form the cathead shape on a mold, chase-weave the sides of the basket, notch a handle and lash a rim. This precious basket is a mere 2 3⁄4 inches in diameter x 3 inches tall with a handle. Instructor Karen Wychock is a member of the Bucks County Craftsmen’s Guild and the PA Guild of Craftsmen. The workshop fee is $110 includes materials). Preregistr­ation is necessary as the workshop size is limited.
