Inglewood Elementary principal going to Stony Creek Elementary
AMBLER » Stony Creek Elementary School has a new leader.
The Wissahickon School Board recently appointed Dr. Orlando Taylor as principal of the school, replacing Dr. Kevin McAneny, who retired after 42 years in education.
Taylor is currently principal at the Inglewood Elementary School in the North Penn School District. He has been at Inglewood for the past seven years, and has a total of 17 years of experience as an elementary school principal, spanning three different districts. Prior to becoming a principal, he was a K-5 music teacher in Reading for seven years. Prior to that, he served four years as a noncommissioned officer in the U.S. Navy.
Taylor holds a Bachelor of Science degree in music education from West Chester University, a Master of Education degree in curriculum and instruction from Penn State and Doctorate of Education degree in educational leadership from the University of Pennsylvania.
According to Wissahickon’s superintendent of schools, Dr. James Crisfield, Stony Creek is getting a proven building leader.
“We are absolutely thrilled to find somebody of Orlando’s caliber to take the helm at Stony Creek,” Crisfield said in a release from the school district. “His leadership style is a perfect fit for our district, and I was especially struck by his appreciation for Stony Creek’s success over the years while at the same time insisting on never getting complacent — that message will resonate with the Stony Creek community and staff. Just as importantly, he is approachable, humble and student-oriented, and knows what a school district like Wissahickon expects of its schools.”
Orlando will begin at Stony Creek on Aug. 1.
