UPPER DUBLIN >> John Scully wanted one last swim with his friends.

“It’s so much better when you have a great group of guys,” said the Hideaway senior standout, moments after emerging from the Maple Manor pool, having capped off the summer season by anchoring the 200-meter free relay to victory. “This group kept dropping time all season, which was good.

“We had one senior (Michael Kane) and it was his last race, so it was a good way to finish it off. Great guy.”

Colin Harris, Zach Mignogna, Kane and Scully made their final race together quite memorable, combining their efforts for a firstplace time of 1 minute, 42.65 seconds. It was part of a tremendous showing by the Hideaway senior boys, who won five of the seven events Saturday morning at the Colonial Swim League’s A Championships at Maple Manor.

“I started out kinda slow, slower than I thought, but the free and the free relay, I felt pretty good,” said Scully, a rising senior at Hatboro-Horsham. Scully won a total of four events — a pair of individual golds and two relays. “I did better than I thought I would actually. It was fun.”

The Hurricanes started the day by racing away to first in the 200 medley relay, the foursome of Mignogna, Conor Eimer, Kane and Scully going 1:56.97.

Scully was the only swimmer to break 30 seconds in the 50 back, touching in 28.83, and then Hideaway took first and second in the 50 fly, with Kane and Mignogna going 27.91 and 28.03.

Scully won the 100 free in 54.04 before the 200 free foursome beat out Maple Manor (1:46.01) for top honors.

“I’m happy. I’m looking forward to next year, the winter season and everything,” said Scully, who swam on Hatboro-Horsham’s state champion 400 free relay and state runnerup 200 free relay last year. “In the winter we have a great group. It’s gonna be a lot of fun.

“We did awesome last year and I think we’re gonna be even better this year. That’s the plan.”

Several league and pool records fell Saturday.

Jonathan Freeman of the Manorlu Megaducks broke the pool record of 28.87 in the 11-12 50 free, finishing in 28.39.

The Hideaway girls 8-and-under 100 medley relay foursome of Natalie Stasio, Megan Summer, Samantha Wigginton

and Camryn Jones broke the pool record of 1:32.79, replacing it with a time of 1:30 flat.

The Hurricanes set two other pool records on the girls side.

The 11-12 200 medley relay team of Sara Bozzomo, Mia Tamburrino, Hannah Parker and Allison Hacherl went 2:20.59, smashing the previous record of 2:23.50. Also for Hideaway, the 11-12 girls 200 free team of Hacherl, Bozzomo, Tamburrino and Hannah Parker set a new standard of 2:07.09, topping the previous record of 2:09.34.

The Manorlu Megaducks weren’t through.

The girls 8-and-under 100 free relay team of Sailor Campbell, Kylie Juliani, Sealeigh Campbell and Harbor Campbell set both league and pool records with a time of 1:13.75, surpassing the previous mark of 1:14.60.

Also for the Megaducks, the boys 11-12 200 free relay team of Finn McCarthy, Andrew Stein, Anthony Koh and Freeman went 2:04.21 to push past the pool record of 2:04.26.

Host Maple Manor, which captured the league title during the regular season, set a league and pool record in the boys 11-12 200 free relay, the foursome of Landon Kullmann, R.J. Boyd, Michael Gewartowski and Miles Bondi pushing to a 2:02.79. That surpassed both previous standards in the pool (2:04.26) and league (2:03.66).
