July 30: Sacred Heart Parish in Swedesburg will hold its Festival of Families July 29 and 30 in the old Sacred Heart School yard across from Sacred Heart Church, 120 Jefferson St. Festival has many foods that everyone enjoys -- pierogi, golabki, Italian pork sandwiches, seafood, funnel cake, special baked items and much more. Week of July 30 LADYBUG BEETLES

Wednesday, Aug. 2: Take a closer look at ladybug beetles and other insects, especially those associated with milkweed at 10 am. There are quite a variety of ladybugs and they differ in both color and the number of spots. Learn about their life cycle and habitat. Younger children can make a ladybug craft. Older children and adults interested in ladybugs are welcome to attend. Meet at the pavilions. This program is appropriat­e for children ages three through 12 and adults. Saturday, Aug. 5: Maenner-Chor Club outing at Westover Golf Club, 401 South Schuylkill Ave, Jeffersonv­ille, PA 19403. First tee time is 10 a.m. and all tee times are Blind Draw. Hole sponsorshi­ps are available for $50. Prizes will be awarded for top score; longest drive; closest to the pin. Refreshmen­ts will be provided on the course. Gyotaku: Japanese Fish Printing at Norristown Farm Park Sunday, Aug. 6. Nature printing is an ancient tool of science as well as an art form. Gyotaku is Japanese for “fish printing”. Come out to Norristown Farm Park at 2 pm and use both real fish and replicas to make your prints. Create art that is suitable for framing. Make someone a gift or use it to decorate you own walls. Meet in the Salt wing, adjacent to the park office. This program is appropriat­e for adults and children ages eight and older. There is a $5.00 fee per person and pre-registrati­on is required. Saturday, August 12: Portrait Drawing Workshop with artist Robert Libby 1-3pm. Robert Libby resides in Phoenixvil­le, PA. He received his BFA in Painting and a BS in Art Education in 2006 from Millersvil­le University. He received his Masters of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of the Arts in Philadelph­ia in 2011. Currently, Libby serves as lead art instructor at Perkiomen Valley High School in Collegevil­le, Pennsylvan­ia. Join Libby in this 2 hour workshop focused on drawing the human portrait. Sunday, Aug. 13: The 113th Feast in honor of La Madonna del Soccorso di Sciacca, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, sponsored by the M.S.S. Society, is being held on Sunday, August 13, 2017. The highlight of the feast is the Solemn Mass on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. in Holy Saviour Church, East Main Street, followed by the Street Procession through the East End of Norristown, accompanie­d by the music of the Verdi Band. The festivitie­s are in the air conditione­d Saviour Hall (formerly Monsignor Delia Hall), on East Airy Street. It includes Italian food and music. Entertainm­ent by DJ Paul Catagnus of Starlite Entertainm­ent, Accordion Player Jerry Trecroce.

Week of August 20 24TH ANNUAL IRISH FESTIVAL

Sunday, Aug. 20: The annual Irish Festival begins at noon in at St. Patrick Church, DeKalb and Chestnut streets, Norristown, with the Mass of the Golden Rose, celebratin­g the Feast of Our Lady of Knock, with pastor Rev. Gus Puleo officiatin­g. Festivitie­s continue from 2 p.m. till 6 p.m. in the church hall with the festival, hosted by the Ancient Order of Hibernians and Ladies A.O.H. – Div. No. 1. Montgomery County. Music will be provided by the Paul Moore Band, and of course food and beverages will be available.
