July 30: Sacred Heart Parish in Swedesburg will hold its Festival of Families July 29 and 30 in the old Sacred Heart School yard across from Sacred Heart Church, 120 Jefferson St. Festival has many foods that everyone enjoys -- pierogi, golabki, Italian pork sandwiches, seafood, funnel cake, special baked items and much more. Live entertainment with Where’s Pete on July 29th and AM Radio on July 30th and kids games all weekend long. Week of July 30 LADYBUG BEETLES
Wednesday, Aug. 2: Take a closer look at ladybug beetles and other insects, especially those associated with milkweed at 10 am. There are quite a variety of ladybugs and they differ in both color and the number of spots. Learn about their life cycle and habitat. Younger children can make a ladybug craft. Older children and adults interested in ladybugs are welcome to attend. Meet at the pavilions. This program is appropriate for children ages three through 12 and adults. Miles Orion Butler is a multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter from the Philadelphia area whose lyrics contemplate on society, human emotions, storytelling, love, robots, consciousness, and freedom. Saturday, Aug. 5: Maenner-Chor Club outing at Westover Golf Club, 401 South Schuylkill Ave, Jeffersonville, PA 19403. First tee time is 10 a.m. and all tee times are Blind Draw. Hole sponsorships are available for $50. Prizes will be awarded for top score; longest drive; closest to the pin. Refreshments will be provided on the course. Cost is $75 per golfer, which includes dinner, draft beer & soft drinks afterwards at the Norristown Maenner-Chor Pavilion - 920 Haws Ave, Norristown, PA 19401. Sign up individually or as a foursome. Gyotaku: Japanese Fish Printing at Norristown Farm Park Sunday, Aug. 6. Nature printing is an ancient tool of science as well as an art form. Gyotaku is Japanese for “fish printing”. Come out to Norristown Farm Park at 2 pm and use both real fish and replicas to make your prints. Create art that is suitable for framing. Make someone a gift or use it to decorate you own walls. Meet in the Salt wing, adjacent to the park office. This program is appropriate for adults and children ages eight and older. There is a $5.00 fee per person and pre-registration is required. Saturday, August 12: Portrait Drawing Workshop with artist Robert Libby 1-3pm. Robert Libby resides in Phoenixville, PA. He received his BFA in Painting and a BS in Art Education in 2006 from Millersville University. He received his Masters of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia in 2011. Currently, Libby serves as lead art instructor at Perkiomen Valley High School in Collegeville, Pennsylvania. Join Libby in this 2 hour workshop focused on drawing the human portrait. All materials and a clothed model will be provided. $40/ person, RSVP in advance appreciated. Drop-In is welcomed. Sunday, Aug. 13: The 113th Feast in honor of La Madonna del Soccorso di Sciacca, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, sponsored by the M.S.S. Society, is being held on Sunday, August 13, 2017. The highlight of the feast is the Solemn Mass on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. in Holy Saviour Church, East Main Street, followed by the Street Procession through the East End of Norristown, accompanied by the music of the Verdi Band. The festivities are in the air conditioned Saviour Hall (formerly Monsignor Delia Hall), on East Airy Street. It includes Italian food and music. Entertainment by DJ Paul Catagnus of Starlite Entertainment, Accordion Player Jerry Trecroce.

It is based off the Roald Dahl novel by the same name. It is the story of Mr. Fox and his adventures raiding nearby farms and the subsequent farmers’ retaliation. The CAP Moosic Series showcases an eclectic group of solo musicians connected by their music’s thought provoking nature. Our August concert showcases the music of Brian John McBrearty and friends.. Brian John McBrearty is a Philadelphia-based guitarist and composer. Week of August 20 24TH ANNUAL IRISH FESTIVAL
Sunday, Aug. 20: The annual Irish Festival begins at noon in at St. Patrick Church, DeKalb and Chestnut streets, Norristown, with the Mass of the Golden Rose, celebrating the Feast of Our Lady of Knock, with pastor Rev. Gus Puleo officiating. Festivities continue from 2 p.m. till 6 p.m. in the church hall with the festival, hosted by the Ancient Order of Hibernians and Ladies A.O.H. – Div. No. 1. Montgomery County. Music will be provided by the Paul Moore Band, and of course food and beverages will be available.

Wednesday, August 23: Sound Healing Workshop with Blooming Alchemy 6:30-8pm. This workshop will comprise a 15 minute talk on sound healing, mantra, the origin of singing bowls, and how they work. Followed by a 45 minute group sound healing.
