Jay Henry Detwiler, age 84, of Telford, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Grand View Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of Ruth Eileen (Grasse) Detwiler, with whom he shared more than 63 years of marriage.

Born Sept. 10, 1932, he was a son of the late Henry and Eva (Landis) Detwiler.

Jay was a longtime member of Blooming Glen Mennonite Church. He was employed as an automotive and diesel mechanic at Farm Bureau Garage for nearly 50 years. He was quite popular over generation­s of customers and was often greeted warmly when spotted out and about with Ruth at their favorite restaurant­s.

Jay came from a farming family, and when the opportunit­y arose, he bought the old family farm in Franconia where he was raised. He continued the tradition and as a hobby raised various kinds of livestock including sheep, chickens, and ducks. He loved tending the flower beds throughout the farm. Jay also enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips with friends and family as well as traveling throughout the United States, Mexico, Europe and Canada.

In addition to his wife, Ruth, he is survived by his children, Cindy Jackowski and her husband, Mark, and Steven Detwiler and his wife, Cindy; granddaugh­ter Grace Brockman and her husband, Sam; and sisters Jane Huegel and her husband, David, and Gladys Longacre and her husband, David. He was preceded in death by siblings Elizabeth, Ralph, Harold, Jim, Murray and Lena (Craig).

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church, 713 Blooming Glen Road, Blooming Glen, PA 18911.
