Hoover a big hit with Penn field hockey

Senior Alexa Hoover (Methacton) scored both goals to lead the Quakers field hockey team to a 2-0 victory over Villanova. Senior midfielder Cassidy Barrow (North Penn) has started all four games for the Lions field hockey team. Freshman Crissy Terraces (Plymouth Whitemarsh) has three goals, including two gamewinner­s ,for the Lions women’s soccer team. Morgan Valera (Upper Moreland) has been credited with two shots on goal. DELAWARE VALLEY » Junior quarterbac­k Dashawn Darden (Cardinal O’Hara), a Norristown resident, is 46-for-83 for 432 yards and six touchdowns for the Aggies football team, while sophomore Laquille Nesbitt (Archbishop Wood) has rushed nine times for 29 yards and senior defensive tackle Marc Isaac (William Tennent) has eight tackles and sophomore linebacker Ryan Barrett (Archbishop Wood) has two tackles. Senior defender Austin Wilson (Faith Christian Academy) is a member of the Aggies men’s soccer team, as is sophomore Austin Daniels (Central Bucks East), who has notched two assists. Sophomore Sam Mullin (Wissahicko­n) has played 244 minutes for the Bulldogs field hockey team this season, while freshman Erin Chioffe (Central Bucks South) has played 172 minutes and freshman Kyra Myers (Wissahicko­n) has seen action in all five games for the Bulldogs. Freshman Kyle Shakala (Plymouth Whitemarsh) finished 47th (16:40) at the Galen Piper Invitation­al and 25th (20:00) at the Little Three Invitation­al at Carlisle to help the Red Devils women’s cross country team win both events.

Freshman defender Emily Mycek (Methacton) has three goals and an assist and the Red Devils field hockey team is off to a 5-1 start. Mycek had a goal to help the Devils get past Frostburg State, 4-0, then scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Bridgewate­r. But her biggest goal came in the league opener as she redirected a penalty corner in the game’s 19th minute to give the Devils a 1-0 win over Swarthmore.
