Day, Williams pacing Jefferson basketball
Rachel Day (Horsham/Archbishop Wood) become Jefferson women’s basketball’s alltime leader in career 3-pointers last Saturday, setting a new record on her first basket — her 229th from beyond the arc — as the Rams defeated Bloomfield 68-56.
Day made three 3-pointers in the game and posted a doubledouble with 11 points and 10 rebounds to go along with two assists and a steal.
Jefferson’s Alynna Williams (Ambler/Plymouth Whitemarsh) led all scorers with 22 points while chipping in four rebounds and four assists. Jessica Kaminski (Philadelphia/Archbishop Wood) added 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists while Erin Maher (Lansdale/North Penn) grabbed nine rebounds.
Last Wednesday in a 56-51 loss to USciences, Williams — who was named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Weekly Honor Roll Monday — went for 21 points and six rebounds with Kaminski going for eight points, six rebounds and four assists.
• USciences women’s basketball’s Laura Trisch (Doylestown/ Archbishop Wood) was named CACC Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Devils win twice last week to extend their win streak to a programtying 16 games.
Trisch had 11 rebounds, three blocks, two points, two assists and two steals last Wednes-
day in the 56-51 win over Jefferson. Irisa Ye (Lansdale/North Penn) scored 15 points to match a career high.
Last Saturday in the Devils’ 67-56 win over Post, Trisch recorded her third career double-double with 11 points, a game-high 10 rebounds, four assists, four steals and three blocks. Ye finished with eight points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal.
• Collin Gillespie (Warminster/Archbishop Wood) made four 3-points to score 12 points and also had three rebounds and three assists as the Villanova men’s basketball team fell to St. John’s 79-75 last Wednesday.
Gillespie chipped in five points, four rebounds and a block last Saturday as the Wildcats bounced back with a 86-75 win over Butler.
• Luke Connaghan (Warrington/Archbishop Wood) had 11 points while and Mike Bealer (Harleysville/Souderton) and Tracy Simsick (Harleysville/Souderton) both scored nine points as the DeSales men’s basketball team topped King’s 96-68 last Saturday.
Connaghan also finished with three blocks, two assists and two steals. Bealer’s
nine points came on three 3-pointers as he added three assists and two steals while Simsick collected three rebounds, two assists and a pair of blocks.
• Alex Louin (Doylestown/ Mount Saint Joseph) collected a double-double — 12 points and 14 rebounds — and also moved into 10th on the Villanova women’s baseball team’s all-time scoring list Sunday as the Wildcats defeated Seton Hall 59-53.
Louin added a pair of assists and a steal in the victory, which improved Nova to 20-5 overall and 10-4 in the Big East.
• Jimmy Murray (Plymouth Meeting/Plymouth Whitemarsh) has 13 points, seven assists and four rebounds to help the Moravian men’s basketball team win its sixth straight by defeating Juniata 96-84 last Saturday.
Last Thursday, Murray had a team-high 19 points, four rebounds and three assists as the Greyhounds bested Goucher 96-55.
• Lock Haven men’s basketball’s Amir Hinton (Philadelphia/Abington) went off for 39 points — going a perfect 12-for-12 from the foul line — along with eight rebounds and four assists as the Bald Eagles fell to East Stroudsburg 118-102 last Thursday.
ESU’s Kitt Najee Walls (Philadelphia/La Salle) had
nine points and six assists. For Lock Haven, Matt Cerruti (Huntingdon Valley/ Archbishop Wood) finished with 11 points, 5 assists, four rebounds and two steals.
• Erin Lindahl (Yardley/ Germantown Academy) led the Emory women’s basketball team with 20 points and also collected six rebounds, two assists and two steals as the Eagles topped Case Western Reserve 73-62 Sunday.
Allison Chernow (Dresher/Upper Dublin) added three points and five assists.
Last Friday in Emory’s 66-64 win over Carnegie Mellon Lindahl had 16 points, seven rebounds, four steals and two assists while Chernow finished with five points, two rebounds and two assists.
• Ursinus women’s basketball’s Lydia Konstanzer (Sellersville/Pennridge) posted her sixth straight doubledouble — and her eighth in the last nine games — as she finished with 23 points, 13 rebounds and three steals in the Bears’ 58-48 win over Dickinson last Saturday.
• Ursinus men’s basketball’s Zach Quattro (Lansdale/Hatboro-Horsham) had a game-high 21 points and eight rebounds as the Bears fell to Dickinson 6359 last Saturday.
Ryan McTamney (Roxborough/La Salle) had 10 points
and three rebounds for UC while Brian Rafferty (Harleysville/Lansdale Catholic) finished with nine points, six rebounds and two rebounds and Shane Stark (Collegeville/La Salle) had five points, four rebounds and two steals.
• Aubree Brown (Philadelphia/Archbishop Wood) finished with 10 points, seven rebounds and three assists while Bailey Greenberg (North Wales/Archbishop Wood) scored nine points as the Drexel women’s basketball team bested UNCWilmington 58-40 Sunday.
• Keifonna Ferguson (Norristown/Norristown) had eight points and six rebounds, Karen Lapkiewicz (Southampton/Saint Basil) had seven points and four rebounds and the Kutztown women’s basketball team defeated Mansfield 54-38 last Saturday.
Gabbi Wright (Elkins Park/Cheltenham) col- lected six points, four rebounds and three steals for the Golden Bears with Kalee Fuegel (Philadelphia/Saint Basil) scoring five points and Taylor Thames (Colmar/ North Penn) posting two rebounds and two assists.
• West Chester men’s basketball’s Tyrell Long (Philadelphia/Bishop McDevitt) had a game-high 27 points and six rebounds while Steve Smith (Ambler/La Salle) scored a career-high
14 points as the Golden Rams rolled past Cheyney 107-65 last Saturday.
Evan-Eric Longino (Furlong/Germantown Academy) added 12 points and two rebounds with Matt Penecale (Jenkintown/ Abington) posting seven assists, two points and two rebounds.
In WCU’s 95-59 victory over Mansfield last Thursday, Longino went for 14 points and four rebounds, Long tallied 10 points and seven rebounds and Colin Daly (Havertown/Archbishop Carroll) had eight points and five rebounds.
• Nicole Munger (Doylestown/Central Bucks West) finished with nine points, three rebounds, two assists and a block as the Michigan women’s basketball team defeated Northwestern 84-63 last Thursday.
• Anthony Lee (Willow Grove/Abington) scored a team-high 20 points to go with three steals, two rebounds and two assists as the Kutztown men’s basketball team bested Mansfield 77-71 last Saturday.
Max Wagner (Perkasie/ Pennridge) finished with nine points, six rebounds and a block for the Golden Bears.
• Vicky Tumasz (North Wales/North Penn) posted 14 points — hitting three 3-pointers — five rebounds, four assists and two steals last Saturday as the Chestnut Hill women’s basketball team fell to Caldwell 68-60.
• Tim Guers (Langhorne/ Germantown Academy) recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds while also handing out five assists and blocking one shot in the Saint Anselm men’s basketball’s 86-66 win over Bentley last Saturday.
• West Chester women’s swimming’s Sarah Fisher (Conshohocken/Plymouth Whitemarsh) took first place in the 200 breast with a personal best of 2:20 and also won the 100 yard breast in 1:06.74 at the NYU Spring Invite last Saturday.
• Kutztown wrestling’s Jeff Reimel (Lansdale/ North Penn) earned his fifth straight victory, pinning Millersville’s Evan Morrill at 1:49 in their 184-pound match as the Golden Bears won their sixth consecutive dual meet last Friday 25-16.
Mikey O’Brien (Lansdale/ North Penn) also picked up a win for KU with a 12-5 decision over Seth Decker at 157.
• Jackie Cerchio (Audubon/Methacton) collected her first career assists while Kira Gensler (Royersford/ Spring-Ford) had four goals and an assist as the Temple women’s lacrosse team topped Rutgers 12-8 last Saturday.
Amber Lambeth (Harleysville/Souderton) added a goal for the Owls.
