North Penn fast out of the gate
North Penn returns from Myrtle Beach tanned and ready to go at 3-0.
The Knights earned three victories in as many games in their trip to The Cal Ripken Experience down in South Carolina, capped off by a defensiveminded 3-1 victory over Williamstown (N.J.) in a matchup of baseball powerhouses. Williamstown was the New Jersey State Runner-Up back in 2015 while the Knights have captured three PIAA titles (2009, ‘13, ‘15) in the 2000’s.
The Knights got some tremendous pitching from a young arm to come out on top in this one.
Sophomore Kolby Barrow, making his varsity debut, racked up 11 strikeouts while not surrendering a single walk. He went the distance, giving up just one run off of four hits.
Williamstown went up 1-0 in the first but the Knights pushed three runs across in the fifth to take control.
Zack Miles, who had a pair of hits for North Penn, drove a run in and the Knights also took advantage of three Williamstown errors in the contest to build the lead to 3-1.
Tyler Siddal had the other hit for the Knights in what developed into a pitchers duel.
North Penn began the trip with a 6-3 win over Butler then followed that up with a 10-4
victory over Dublin Scioto (Ohio).
The Knights outscored their three opponents by a combined total of 19-8.
North Penn will open up Suburban One League Continental Conference play Thursday at 3:45 p.m., at home against Central Bucks West.
