Be active, eat healthy, go green
BAPS: BAPS Charities hosts a Children’s Health & Safety Day today to promote health and safety awareness for children, parents and caretakers in the community. Opening ceremonies begin at 9:30 a.m. at 2021 E. Township Line Road, Hatfield Township, and there will be local dignitaries, activities, presentations, workshops, emergency vehicle tours, community volunteers, local emergency vehicles, and local health and safety professionals. The programs are intended to empower youth and parents to make positive changes to enhance activity and nutrition through a National Health Institute initiative. Additional highlights of the event include an emergency helicopter landing by JeffStat; emergency education and tours by Hatfield Police, Colmar Volunteer Fire Company, Montgomery County K-9 Unit; and interactive workshops and presentations throughout the day from pediatricians, nutritionists and more. The event continues through 12:30 p.m.
Missions conference
Montco Bible Fellowship: During a Missions Conference Weekend, hear the experiences of people who share God’s word locally and abroad. At 7 p.m. May 4, the keynote speaker will be Bob Evans from BCM International, and there will be special music. From 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 6 will be youth and adult workshops and exhibits. Calvary Church: Indian Valley Chamber of Commerce hosts “Leadercast Live,” a one-day leadership event broadcast live from Atlanta to hundreds of locations around the world. St. John’s United Church of Christ: The St. John’s United Ringers, the hand bell choir at St. John’s, will play “Alleluia” by Phyllis Treby Hentz at the 10:15 a.m. service on Sunday. In addition, the Chancel Choir will sing “Kyrie” from the “St. John’s Mass” by former North Penn High School choral director Davis Giersch. Also, the St. John’s Artist Series Spring Concert will feature “St. John’s Mass,” directed by its composer, Davis Giersch, at 4 p.m. Sunday. The work will be performed by the St. John’s Chancel Choir and Friends with organist David Furniss. a program for men organized around a central theme, and presented through the lens of seven steps. Each morning session has three components: a social gathering over breakfast refreshments, a 30-minute DVD presentation and opportunity for discussion. Central Schwenkfelder Church: Spend Thursday nights reading and studying the Old Testament with a Bethel Bible Program (now in its 44th year). The program meets 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays through May in the church’s Bethel Room, 2111 S. Valley Forge Road, Worcester. Dates will be decided by the class members and meetings will not be held on the fourth Thursday of the month. Each lesson has a picture with concepts noted, with several pages of reading, as well as assignments of scripture.
