Wiss’ Tran advances to quarters

Andrew Tran of Wis- sahickon advanced to the quarterfin­als of the District 1-AAA Championsh­ips Friday, dispatchin­g Upper Dublin rival Andrew Duan, 6-2, 6-1 in the second round. Tran, the No. 2 seed, will face No. 7 seed Justin Minerva of Lower Merion Saturday at the Healthplex in the quarters. Upper Merion’s Jaden Mayer had a solid showing, advancing to the 2nd round where he fell to No. 3 seed Dan Kleibhan of Council Rock North. Boys Volleyball

Connor Derstine and Jaden Hunsberger both finished with 18 digs as Dock Mennonite clinched the outright Independen­t League championsh­ip with a threeset victory over Unionville Thursday.

Jeremy Yoder had 29 assists for the Pioneers (11-3, 9-0 league) while Lincoln Bergey made 18 kills. Pennridge rallied to force a fifth set Thursday night but Central Bucks East took the deciding game in the SOL Continenta­l match 15-8.

Cross Edwards had 18 kills and seven digs while Zach Detwiler finished with 13 kills and two blocks for the Rams (10-3, 9-2 conference). Corey Quaste had 42 assists, three blocks and a pair of aces.

Girls Lacrosse

Lizzy Ferguson scored her 100th career goal Thursday, finishing with five goals and four assists as Gwynedd Mercy rolled past Sacred Heart for a Catholic Academies victory.

Kendall Seifert had four goals and dished out five assists while Emma Fiore and Peyton Palazzo both added three goals for the Monarchs. GMA 21, Sacred Heart 11 Gwynedd Mercy Goals-Assists: Lizzy Ferguson 5-4; Kendall Seifert 4-5; Emma Fiore 3-0; Peyton Palazzo 3-0; Carrie Johnston 2-1; Grace Hirschman 2-0; Nicole Conwell 1-0; Tess Flanigan 1-0; Paige Angelus 0-1. Liz O’Hara found Riley McGowan for a goal in the final seconds of over- time and Souderton won its third straight in Thurs- day’s SOL non-conference matchup.

McGowan had five goals and two assists, Sarah Goodwin won 21 draw controls and finished with four goals and three assists while Lauren Scott made 15 saves for the Indians (8-4, 4-1 SOL American). Souderton 16, Pennsbury 15 (OT)

Boys Lacrosse

Danny Payne scored three goals as the Knights (84, 4-1) rallied past the Fal- cons Friday. Lucas Yannul and Nic Conroy added two goals apiece for North Penn. Bryon Rimmer made 13 saves as North Penn dropped Thursday’s nonleague matchup.

Baseball

Josh Dubost gave up two runs — one earned — on three hits and struck out six over six innings while also going 3-for-3 with a triple and two run scored at the plate as Methacton won Thursday’s PAC Liberty contest.

Conor Smith and Jordan Lukas both went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored for the Warriors. Germantown Academy’s Colten Smith stuck out five and did not allow a walk in earning the win in his second straight complete game effort Thursday.

Mike Reilly had two hits and drove in two runs as the Patriots (8-7, 3-3 Inter-Ac) scored five runs in the fourth. Dante Messina added a pair of hits.

Michael Hutchsinon allowed one earned run on two hits and struck out seven in six innings to earn the win while Matthew Choi stuck out three in picking up the save as Upper Merion claimed a PAC Frontier victory Thursday.

Jonathan Eyer was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Vikings. The Phantoms scored in five separate innings in holding off PJP in a PAC contest Thursday.

Softball

Jocelyn Plfeiger was 2-for-2 with a home run, two walks, four runs scored and two RBIs as Dock Mennonite fell to The Christian Academy Thursday.

Theresa Beck and Sam DiLoreto both had two hits for the Pioneers, who plated six runs in the top of the fifth to pull within 9-8. TCA, however, scored twice in the bottom of the inning to go up three and held on for the win. Kayla Warren went 2-for-3 while Lauren Del Giudice was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored as Upper Merion fell to Owen J. Roberts in their PAC contest Thursday. Noelle Reid went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored as Spring-Ford won Thursday’s PAC matchup.

Brianna Peck was 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and run scored for the Rams while Maddie Cortino was 2-for-3.
