Martha H. Alderfer of Souderton.

Martha H. Alderfer, 100, of Souderton, died Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Souderton Mennonite Homes. She was the daughter of the late Warren K. and Martha (Hendricks) Alderfer.

Martha was born in Mainland, lived on her grandparen­ts’ farm in Towamencin Township, and then spent 80 years living on the Alderfer family farm on Hendricks road (Orvilla), Towamencin Township, before moving to the Souderton Mennonite Community in 2007.

In addition to working on the family farm, Martha worked in the Lansdale and Hatfield area in the clothing industry for many years. She was the primary caregiver for her mother prior to her death in 1969.

When she retired at the age of 68, Martha went to work part time in housekeepi­ng at Dock Terrace and also did house cleaning for a local friend.

She was a longtime member of Plains Mennonite Church, Hatfield.

She is survived by six nieces and four nephews: Janet Clemmer Yeager (Charles), Middletown, Rachel Alderfer Hinz (John), Harrisonbu­rg, VA, Lucy Clemmer Gahman (Harold), Rhoda Alderfer Kauffman (Lyle), Harleysvil­le, Glenda Alderfer Moyer (Abram) ,Lansdale, Patti Rittenhous­e Freed (Darryl), Quakertown, Wesley (Verna) Clemmer, McClure, Dean Clemmer, Lancaster, David Alderfer (Cheryl), Silverdale, and Robert Rittenhous­e (Jodie) Lansdale. She has many great and greatgreat nieces and nephews to which she was known as Aunt Martha.

Her only brother, Warren H. Alderfer, preceded her in death two years earlier. Her twin sister, Mary, died at the age of 8. Also preceding her in death was her infant sister, Miriam (1930), older sister, Edith Clemmer (1997), her younger sister, Erma Rittenhous­e (2011), as well as a niece, Doris Clemmer Stoltzfus (2008).

Relatives and friends may call after 9:00 a.m. July 21, 2018 at Souderton Mennonite Homes, 207 W. Summit St., Souderton, followed by the Memorial Service at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services will be held privately in Towamencin Mennonite Church Cemetery. Arrangemen­ts are by the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.
