Food Truck Craze event to support PAL
Event set for 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Coventry Mall
NORTH COVENTRY » The Pottstown Police Athletic League (PAL) is teaming up with Food Truck Craze to bring a food truck festival to the grounds of the Coventry Mall on Saturday, June 23, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“This is actually our first event in Pottstown,” said Alexander Gingold, director of Food Truck Craze LLC, which was launched in 2017. “We’re really excited about it.”
Parking and admission are free — it’s pay as you go to each of the food trucks. An estimated 20 food trucks from around the area will provide a variety of food.
Trucks scheduled to attend the event, according to Gingold, include: Gotta Lotta Gelata, which sells gelato and other sweet treats; Ziggy’s Roaster Inc., which provides roasted corn; Falkor Food Truck, which dishes up Asian Fusion flavors; Wow Wagon, which serves gourmet burgers, fried macaroni and cheese balls and rib melts; and HEART Food Truck, which uses seasonal food from small, family-owned farms.
Gingold added that those attending will be asked to vote for the best sweet and sour food truck. Each vote will cost $1, and
all proceeds from the voting will go to PAL. In addition to the food trucks, Gingold said a DJ will be on hand to entertain.
“It’s something to benefit Pottstown PAL as a whole,” said Abigail Heisler, executive director at PAL, adding that the organization will receive some of the proceeds from the event.
Gingold mentioned how the event organizers hope the local community comes out, drawing energy to the mall.
“We want to create a fun atmosphere for the local communities to enjoy,” Gingold said.
Food Truck Craze was “started by food truck operators looking to create a fun event,” according to Gingold. Since its inception, the company has managed food truck festivals at numerous locations, including King of Prussia and Phoenixville. The North Coventry event will be the third food truck event of 2018.
“It’s a popular item that people get excited about,” Heisler said. “Hopefully this is something we can do in the years to come.”
Pottstown PAL invests in youth from kindergarten to sixth grade, offering diverse athletic programs in hopes of promoting healthier lifestyles and positive, active citizens, according to its website.
Sign-ups for football can be completed on the Pottstown PAL website, at www. pottstownpal.org. There is also the new Dek Hockey program offered to kids from kindergarten through 12th grade, where hockey is played on blacktop with sneakers and a ball. Pottstown PAL is also planning for its 13th annual food fair in October.
Food Truck Craze won’t be the only event happening at the mall on Saturday — the Wicked Effects Car Club will host a car show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in an adjacent parking lot on the property. Proceeds from the car show will benefit the Bon Homie Better Days Foundation Therapy Program.
