Edwin C. Glover Sr. of Towamencin Township.

Edwin C. Glover Sr., 75, of Towamencin Township, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2018.

Ed is survived by his wife of 27 years and best friend, Sandra Glover; his children, Edwin C. “Bo” Glover, Jr., of Costa Mesa, CA; and Alissa Glover, of Lansdale; his step-children, Scott Weitzel (Jennifer), of Lansdale; and Jamie Weitzel (Kris), of Harleysvil­le. Ed will also be remembered by his loving grandchild­ren, Gabi Glover; Montgomeri­e Weitzel, Katelyn Weitzel, Dalton Weitzel, and Hunter Weitzel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Gaskill Glover and Rotruda Berger Glover. Ed was born on September 10, 1942 at Elm Terrace Hospital in Lansdale and grew up in Hatfield.

He graduated from North Penn High School in 1960, where he was a standout participan­t on both the baseball and soccer teams.

Ed went on to attend Rider College and graduated with a BS in Business Management. In college, Ed continued his soccer career and was a member of Theta Chi fraternity.

After leaving college, Ed was drafted into the United States Army in 1966. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War with the 4th Infantry Division in Pleiku, and was honorably discharged in 1968.

Following his service, Ed began his working career at the Turbo Machine Company, moving on to then work with his father at National Fence Company. He took over the business and renamed it “E.C. Glover & Son,” where he successful­ly provided services for his clientele until 2008.

Ed was also a Deputy Wildlife Conservati­on Officer with the Pennsylvan­ia Game Commission from 1977 until his retirement in 2012. He was recognized as Deputy of the Year for the Southeast Region in 1991.

Ed’s career also included working as an usher for the Philadelph­ia Eagles for 5 years.

Ed proudly served his community as a volunteer fireman. Beside providing his expertise as a fireman, he also helped to organize the Junior Fire Company of Hatfield, and held the position of Assistant Chief with Fairmount Fire Company of Lansdale. Ed also volunteere­d for decades on the “Chain Gang,” working the sidelines at North Penn High School home football games.

He also enjoyed the outdoors and had a passion for working with polar bears in Churchill, Canada. He was an avid Philadelph­ia sports fan, and enjoyed golfing with his closest friends. In the morning, he could be found with the crew at Wawa, and most evening meals were spent with his wife at Zoto’s Diner. He cherished the time spent with his grandchild­ren most of all, and will be missed.

Relatives and friends will be received on Friday, September 28, after 10:30 a.m. in the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Avenue, Lansdale, and are invited to attend a celebratio­n of Ed’s life at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons in memory of Ed may be sent to the Environmen­tal Nature Center, 1601 E. 16th Street, Newport Beach, CA 92663.
