Trunk or Treat
Gwynedd Square Presbyterian Church: Bring your own decorated car trunks and costumed treaters for Trunk or Treat at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 28. Highlights include a DJ, prizes, games, food and more. Christ Lutheran Church: From 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 28 the church at 2211 Mainland Road, Towamencin, will be hosting its first ever Trunk or Treat Event. Trick or treat through a parking lot of decorated cars. Food and pumpkin decorating will be available in the fellowship hall (handicap accessible) while supplies last. Park in the Christ Covenant Church lot at 2200 Mainland Road and walk across the street. Crossing guards will assist. This is a free event and open to the public. Church of the Holy Spirit: A Service of All Hallow’s Eve, followed by a celebration, will be held 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at the church at Barndt Road at Sumneytown Pike, Upper Salford. The short ancient service is a little bit “spooky” and speaks of God’s love and presence in all parts of creation. A Nov. 9 Veterans Shabbat features a dinner at 6 p.m. and worship at 7:30 at the synagogue at 239 Welsh Road, Upper Dublin. The guest speaker will be veteran and congregant Bob Feldman. Faith forum
Church of the Holy Spirit: The church at 2871 Barndt Road at Sumneytown Pike, Upper Salford, will hold its First Friday Adult Faith Forum on Nov. 2, featuring a video of the documentary “Breaking Hate,” produced by former neo-nazi Christian Picciolini. It examines the Charlottsville riot and factors influencing the rise of hate. Celebrate
Bharatiya Temple: Karva Chauth Katha and Puja is celebrated 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 27. Karva Chauth is a fast observed by married Hindu women, and in the afternoon they get together to perform puja and listen to the narration of the Katha. Suggested donation is $21. St. Peter’s Lutheran Church: St. Peter’s annual Food Drive for Manna on Main Street is taking place through Nov. 25. Donations of non-perishable food and gravy may be brought to church at 211 S. Main St., North Wales, and placed in the bins near the doors, or in the specially marked containers throughout the building. Call (215) 6994604.
Christ Covenant Church: During October the church at 2200 Mainland Road, Towamencin, will be supporting Manna on Main Street with donations of non-perishable goods. Items especially needed in restocking their pantry are: canned meat (tuna, salmon, clams, Spam, ham), canned fruit, desert mixes and
baking needs (flour, baking soda, sugar, oil,) unsweetened cereal, toothpaste and shampoo. General non-food needs include: diapers, baby wipes and baby hygiene items (shampoo, lotion, powder), diapers size 5, 6 and pull ups, toilet paper, tissues, paper towels, laundry detergent, razors, deodorant, shower gel and hand soap, feminine care items, conditioner and hair brushes, cleaning products (bathroom cleaner, window cleaner, dish soap), lotions, lip balm, Vaseline. General food needs: canned soups, dried fruit, tomato sauce, diced/whole tomatoes, pasta, rice, oatmeal, pancake mix, peanut butter and jelly, dried/canned beans, baked beans, canned carrots; gluten-free and low-sodium heart healthy products are useful.
