Community Health and Dental opens Coventry Mall location
NORTH COVENTRY >> For Community Health and Dental Care and its 17,000 registered patients, 2018 represented a year of physical change.
In August, Community Health and Dental opened a new facility in the Coventry Mall, in the former Ross Dress for Less department store.
“We’re very excited and very grateful to have such a beautiful facility to accommodate all of our services for our patients. It feels really good to give back to our community by having a facility like this,” Bridgette McGivern, CEO, Community Health and Dental Care said at the Aug. 13 grand opening of the new location.
A family healthcare center, Community Health and Dental serves residents of Boyertown, Pottstown and surrounding areas in Montgomery County.
When the new space opened, Community Health and Dental was using a little more than 26,000 square feet of the available 33,000 square feet. Services include: adult and pediatric medical; vision; dental; integrated behavioral health; medication assisted treatment, which McGivern said assists with the opioid epidemic; case management; care management and a dispensary for low cost prescriptions for registered patients.
As plans for the new space were being developed, McGivern said the goal was to bring services under one roof — which accommodates access for patients.
“We integrate a lot of our services, so parents for example, can get a medical appointment and a dental appointment on the same day,” she said.
McGivern said the organization will be expanding into more of the remaining 7,000 square feet of space with the addition of physical therapy services, and the sublease of space to Pott-
stown Hospital to provide diagnostic services.
OB/GYN services expanded this fall, with the addition of Pottstown Hospital’s OB/Gyn clinic to the facility.
When Pennmark Properties purchased the Coventry Mall in 2016, company CEO Don Cafiero said the future of the mall would include the addition of medical and service facilities.
Mall management announced the addition of Community Health and Dental Care to the mall roster in April 2017.
“We thought the location of the mall was appealing with plenty of parking and lighting. Malls were built around communities, so it made sense to us to look at the space and have it outfitted for what we needed,” McGivern said in August.
Community Health and Dental Care signed a 10year lease with the mall, according to McGivern.
Pennmark Properties CFO Bob Sichelstiel said in April 2017 that his company planned to invest an estimated $1.5 million into getting the space ready for Community
Dental Care.
“This is something we’re really excited about. We think it’s good for the community,” Sichelstiel said at the time.
Shortly after the Coventry Mall location opened, the health care providers’s location at 11 Robinson St., Health and in Pottstown was closed.

Few of us are excited about paying more taxes, but shoving the burden onto retired people who’ve already paid their dues simply isn’t right. Making the system more fair could benefit all of us, now and in the future.
