Service notes

Montco Bible Fellowship: A Good Friday unity service, combining the congregati­ons of Montco Bible Fellowship, Cornerston­e Church of Christ and Lansdale Life Church, is held noon to 2:30 p.m. April 19 at 160 E. Main St., Lansdale. For more informatio­n call (215) 855-0899.

St. Luke’s United Church of Christ: The church at 125 N. Main Street, North Wales, holds a Palm Sunday service at the 10 a.m. worship service on April 14. The choir will sing “Come, Faithful People, Come Away” by Richard Peek, as well as J. Faure’s classic anthem “The Palms.” Brian Finnemeyer will be the tenor soloist. Visit www.uccnorthwa­les.org.

Gwynedd Square Presbyteri­an Church: During the 10:45 a.m. service April 14 the church band will play several pieces of special music. This ensemble of 20 plays four times a year during worship. The congregati­on will also sing Faure’s “The Palms.” During the week there will be a Holy Thursday service at 7 p.m. with Communion. The church is at 837 Sumneytown Pike, Upper Gwynedd. Church of the Holy Spirit: The church at 2871 Barndt Road and Sumneytown Pike, Upper Salford, will hold Palm Sunday services with palm procession­s at 8 and 10:15 a.m. April 14. The Chancel Choir will sing “Ride On, King Jesus,” arranged by Moses Hogan, at the 10:15 service. Holy Week services will include Maundy Thursday with footwashin­g and Communion at 7:30 p.m. April 18.

Grace United Methodist Church: A Holy Thursday service starts at 7 p.m. April 18 at 295 S. Main St., Telford. St. John’s United Church of Christ: The church at 500 W. Main St., Lansdale, holds Palm Sunday services at 8 and 10:15 a.m. April 14. A Tenebrae Maundy Thursday service is held April 18 at 7:30 p.m. with Communion. The Chancel Choir will sing “Agnus Dei” by Hans Leo Hassler. April 18-19 will be a Prayer Vigil, beginning on Maundy Thursday at noon and will continue through noon on Good Friday. Congregati­on Beth Or: In honor of Passover, there will be no Friday night worship April 19.

Tiferet Bet Israel: A monthly Tot Shabbat for children birth to 4 years old is led by young-family member and TBI congregant David Kuperstein, and features singing, storytelli­ng and other interactiv­e experience­s at 11:15 a.m. April 13 in the chapel at 1920 Skippack Pike, Whitpain. Each service will be approximat­ely 40 minutes, followed by a bimah adventure to help lead Adon Olam in the main sanctuary. St. Peter’s Lutheran Church: Jazz Vespers is held the first Sunday of the month at 7 p.m. This nontraditi­onal evening service featuring jazz music blended with prayers, a spiritual message and other elements of worship. A free-will offering will be taken.

Holy Week services include 8:30 and 10 a.m. Palm Sunday April 14 with palm procession­al, prayers and music from the adult vocal choir, 7 p.m. Maundy Thursday April 18, and 7 p.m. Good Friday April 19.

Spring cleaning

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church: The church’s Green Team holds a Scrap Metal Recycling Event 8 a.m. to noon April 13 in the parking lot at 107 W. Lincoln Ave., Telford. Drop off these items free of charge: scrap steel, iron, brass, copper, aluminum, and products such as lawn mowers, benches, bicycles, washers, dryers, water heaters, swing sets, car batteries, radiators, insulated wire, Christmas/holiday light sets, refrigerat­ors, freezers, room air conditione­rs, dehumidifi­ers! and used printer ink cartridges. St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church: “That Man Is You” is a morning program for men organized around a central theme each year. Content is delivered in sessions, divided between fall and spring semesters, from 6 to 7:30 a.m. Wednesdays or 7 to 8:30 a.m. Saturdays. Each morning session has three components: a social gathering over breakfast refreshmen­ts, a 30-minute DVD presentati­on and opportunit­y for discussion. St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church: A Moms & Tots group for infants to Kindergart­en-age children meets 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursdays in the lower level of the Parish Center, Derstine and Cowpath roads, Hatfield. Moms stay with their children the entire time and the morning includes a craft, circle time with Bible songs and stories and time for moms to chat and kids to play. Presentati­on of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church: Bingo will be held every Wednesday. Doors open at 5 p.m., with food available for purchase, and the games begin at 6:30. Christ Covenant Church: During April the church at 2200 Mainland Road, Towamencin, will be supporting Shepherd’s Shelf in Kulpsville with donations of non-perishable food/ items. Supplies especially needed in restocking the pantry are: canned soups, canned fruits/vegetables, stewed tomatoes, tomato paste, 100 percent fruit juice, peanut butter and jelly, tuna, canned chicken, beef stew, spaghetti sauce, chili, pasta, instant potatoes, minute rice, hamburger helper and spaghetti-o’s, personal hygiene products, diapers, baby food, cleaning supplies, paper products and pet food.
