TELFORD >> It’s not just a voice-off anymore.

Singing is still one of the things you can do in the Telford’s Got Talent contest at Penn Valley Church Community Fair, but it’s no longer limited to that.

“It’s a general talent show,” said Jennifer Fretz, chairwoman of the church’s Music & Events Committee.

“It could be a comedy act or it could be an instrumental thing, or singing or dancing,” she said. Other possibilities include live painting on stage, juggling, magic or ventriloquism, she said.

The performance could be “pretty much anything other than things that are dangerous,” Fretz said.

Contestants must be at least 13, according to fair information.

Winning contestants will receive a cash prize of at least $100, Fretz said. The reason the prize amounts aren’t yet known is because it depends on how many different categories will be in the contest, she said.

This year’s fair, held on the church campus at 320 N. Third Street in Telford, runs Tuesday, June 11 through Saturday, June 15.

Now in its seventh year, the fair has raised more than $130,000 for community organizations. This year, Along the Way joins Telford Volunteer Fire Company, Keystone Opportunity Center and North Care Women’s Clinic as beneficiaries of the fair’s proceeds.

Along the Way is closely associated with Penn Valley, Fretz said.

“It’s a great organization that partners with single mothers, helps them ‘along the way,’” said the church’s Director of Outreach Laz Reyes.

The church saw it was an organization that is doing good in the community and wanted to help, he said.

The fair has musical performances each night, Fretz said.

There’s also “lots of great food,” Reyes said.

Other attractions include the rides and the Saturday night fireworks.

It opens at 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday.

Tuesday night’s entertainment line-up is Fun with Dr. Un at 6 p.m., Central Bucks Gymnastics & Dance at 7 p.m. and an Elvis impersonator at 8 p.m. There will also be megaband giveaways from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Megaband bracelets, valued at $50, allow unlimited rides during the fair week.

Wednesday night has a car show presented by East Penn Modifiers Club. The rain date for the car show will be Friday night. The first round of Telford’s Got Talent is at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Kris Yeaworth Group performs at 8:15 p.m.

Thursday night has the chili cook-off at 7 p.m. There are two categories — spicy & traditional. First prize is $50. Brunner Bluegrass performs at 8 p.m.

Round 2 of Telford’s Got Talent is 6:15 p.m. Friday. Anakai Ney performs at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday is Family Day from 2 to 5 p.m., with free kids’ crafts, face painting, balloon animals, a roaming magician and other kids’ activities. Pride of Erin Irish Dancing is at 3 p.m. Forgotten Friends Reptile Show is at 4:30 p.m. Give and Take Jugglers perform at 6 p.m. The Telford’s Got Talent finale will be at 7:30 p.m. The Graham Squad, featuring Raiena Graham, performs at 9 p.m. and again at 10:30 p.m. The fireworks are at 10 p.m.

There will be a Community Row, with tables by the organizations benefiting from the fair, along with other local community organizations, on Friday and Saturday.

“Our mission is for the community to know that we’re here and we’re here for them,” Reyes said.

The fair is one of the ways the congregation lives out the gospel in the community and tries to make it a better community, he said.

Bergey’s Inc. and Godshall’s Meats are this year’s presenting sponsors. Landis Supermarket and Penn Valley Gas are the fireworks sponsors.
