Thrift shop donates $54,000 to nonprofits
PHOENIXVILLE >> The Thrift Shop of Phoenixville recently donated $54,000 to 13 area nonprofit organizations. The figure was an increase of $4,000 over last year’s total.
Since the shop opened in 1975, the all-volunteer staffed Thrift Shop has raised and donated a total of $950,000, according to a press release.

24. Elaine Locascio, Thrift Shop president, presented the donations to each organization:
• Ann’s Heart (Code Blue Ministry)
• Cancer Center at Phoenixville Hospital
• Community Health Education & Outreach
• Healthcare Access Program
• Mom’s House
• Orion Communities
• Phoenixville Area Community Services
• Phoenixville Women’s Outreach – The House
• Senior Adult Activity Center
• St. Mary’s Franciscan Shelter
• Technical College High School Healthcare scholarship
• The Clinic
• The Daniel Foundation
Initially, the money raised by the Thrift Shop was donated directly to Phoenixville Hospital. That was changed about 10 years ago, and the organization began making the donations directly to community organizations.
The Thrift Shop of Phoenixville is located at 238 Church Street in Phoenixville. The shop sells clothing, jewelry, accessories, toys, housewares and small furniture. Hours are: Monday through Friday, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donations are accepted during operating hours.
