Salvation Army seeks assistance
The funding initiative is aimed at addressing the needs of community members living in the area.
The Salvation Army of Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware has launched a new funding initiative, Here. For Good.
Salvation Army locations across Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware receive many requests daily for assistance due to the impact of COVID-19, Gwen Owens, public relations and marketing manager for the division, said in a news release.
Individuals and families need help with rent or mortgage payments, utilities, food, shelter and other basic necessities, she said, and the needs are growing.
The new funding initiative is aimed at addressing the short- and longterm needs of community members living in the area served by the division.
“As we emerge from the devastating COVID-19 pandemic, the Salvation Army is not packing up and leaving,” Lt. Col. Larry Ashcraft, divisional commander, said in the release.
“We are immersed in communities, serving on the frontlines and committed to helping those in need as The Salvation Army has done for over 140 years. Quite frankly, we are Here. For Good.”
Ashcraft said the Salvation Army is seeking assistance from individual donors and corporate partners to help raise the necessary funding to meet the many crucial needs.
All assistance delivered by the Salvation Army will be tailored to meet the direct needs of each community served, he said.
The Salvation Army also will connect individuals with case-specific needs to a network of partners capable of providing specialized assistance.
“Our staff members have listened to, and prayed with, more than 35,000 people since mid-March, logged more than 136,000 hours serving on the front lines, and distributed more than 5.7 million meals in Pennsylvania and Delaware,” Ashcraft said. “We can’t do what we do without the help of community members.”
