UPPER DUBLIN » Hatfield-Towamencin is starting to make its move.

“I think we’re heating up,” said Zach Riddle. “We struggled a little bit early on but we’ve put together back-to-back wins and we looked good in both.”

The Titans scored a bunch in both, following up a 12-1 win over Deep Run with a commanding 14-8 victory over Fort Washington Saturday, on a steaming afternoon on the diamond at Upper Dublin High.

“It was good to get a win. Hot day, but a good win,” said Riddle, a rising junior at North Penn.

Riddle contributed nicely to the Titans’ offensive outburst, going 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, two runs and an RBI.

“We were hitting the ball well today, swinging early in the counts,” Riddle said. “The coaches were stressing that to us, because we had been watching a lot of pitches.”

ATTACKING EARLY » The Titans (42) pounced on some early pitches and built a solid lead by the second.

Riddle’s RBI double made it 3-0 Hatfield-Towamencin.

Said Riddle, a lefty: “I felt good at the plate. I finally got some righties (to go against).”

Added Riddle: “Good way to start the game.”

The Commodores (2-4) rallied back to go ahead 4-3, keyed by

Matt Lagowski’s RBI single, but the Titans took firm control in the fourth.

That is when a four-run inning, including an RBI single by Justin Egner, catapulted the visitors into the lead at 7-4.

From there, the Titans built on their lead.

Aiden Copestick (3-for4), Greg DiPippo and Nick DiPippo all drove in runs to widen the gap to 13-5 in the sixth.

Tim Saiber’s RBI single for the Commodores capped the scoring in the seventh, at 14-8.

The Titans improved their position in the standings, in the thick of things for second place with Deep Run and Plymouth Whitemarsh. Upper Moreland leads the pack with a perfect 7-0 mark going into Saturday.

Hatfield-Towamencin travels to Central Perk Tuesday at CPYA for a 6 p.m. game and Fort Washington hosts Nor-Gwyn Tuesday at 6 p.m. back at Upper Dublin.
