The sun didn’t set on Deep Run’s offense.

After being held scoreless through the first five innings on Tuesday against Fort Washington, Deep Run bats finally came to life in the top of the sixth.

“We were definitely due,” A.J. Neher said.

The visitors pushed across five runs in the frame, then got the three outs it needed in the bottom half (the game was called for darkness after six innings) to complete a come-from-behind 5-1 victory over the Commodores at Upper Dublin High School.

“We’ve been up and down lately but it was good to come back today and finish this one out,” Neher said.

Playoff-minded Deep Run raised its record to 7-5, with a visit to Hatfield-Towamencin slated for Saturday at 8 p.m. The Commodores (3-8) were back in action again Wednesday, with a game at Upper Moreland at 5:45 p.m. GETTING UNTRACKED » With one out and two men on in the sixth, Jordan Morgan came through with a clutch single, deadlocking the game at one apiece.

Then, it was Neher’s turn.

“I had a rough at-bat before that so I wanted to come back. We had guys on second and third so I had to hit them in,” said Neher, who would go 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.

Neher belted a fastball to deep center field, plating two runs with a standup double. Neher and Eric Bergey (walk) later scored on a Fort Washington error to stretch the lead to 5-1.

“To only give up one run, our pitching did a great job,” Neher said.

Christian Browning got the start for Deep Run, allowing just an unearned run and one hit while striking out five and walking three in his three innings of work. Ryan DeHaven got the win for the visitors, giving up just one hit in his two innings while striking out three and walking a pair.

Griffin Pestrack was going strong into the sixth for the Commodores until Deep Run had its big burst.

“We’re confident,” said Neher, a rising junior at Pennridge High. “I feel like when we have all of our guys and we’re playing as a team, we can win this whole thing.”
