‘Wild Lights’ opening at Elmwood Park Zoo
Elmwood Park Zoo, 1661 Harding Blvd., Norristown, has announced the return of its popular holiday lights event, “Wild Lights.” After debuting in 2018, “Wild Lights” has quickly become a highly anticipated annual celebration for families in the Greater Philadelphia region.
“Wild Lights” transforms the zoo into a bright winter wonderland, with thousands of lights adorning the trees, exhibits and buildings throughout its 16 acres. Tickets are on sale at epzwildlights.com.
In addition to all-new light installations and holiday decorations, each night of “Wild Lights” will feature additional entertainment and attractions, such as animal encounters, live performances, holiday music, photos with Santa, carousel rides and more.
“We’re very excited to be able to host ‘Wild Lights’ this year,” said Al Zone, Elmwood Park Zoo’s executive director and CEO. “We know that there aren’t as many options for the folks that are seeking holiday entertainment.”
The zoo will be maintaining the same COVID-19 safety measures that it has had in place since reopening last summer. Admission tickets are timed to manage park capacity. Masks are required to be worn by all guests with the exception of those with health conditions that make mask-wearing difficult, and children ages 2 and under. Guests are also encouraged to keep a minimum distance of 6 feet between themselves and other parties.
“We feel that with our outdoor location, along with our policies such as mask wearing and social distancing, we can provide a fun and safe environment for everyone to enjoy,” Zone said.
Events are scheduled for 5 to 9 p.m. on select dates, beginning Friday and running through Dec. 30.
Admission is $12.95 for adults and children. Yearly zoo members can purchase Wild Lights tickets for $10.95. Children ages 2 and younger are free.
