area girls volleyball teams found success in both the 2020 regular season and playoffs.

Pennridge and Hatboro-Horsham each claimed Suburban One League conference championships while Pope John Paul II and Germantown Academy each went undefeated during the regular season.

The Golden Panthers went on to win the District 1-3A championship, sweeping the semifinals against Gwynedd Mercy Academy and championship against Mount St. Joseph Academy, 3-0.

In Class-4A, Upper Dublin entered the playoffs as the No. 15 seed and battled its way to the semifinals. The Hatters reached the 4A quarterfinals before losing in five sets to perennial power Bishop Shanahan.

Archbishop Carroll went 4-1 in Philadelphia Catholic League play and earned a PIAA-4A state playoff berth.

These team accomplishments would not be possible without great individual performances. The top players will be honored as All-Area selections.

The first team All-Area features two district champions from PJP — Chelsea Harvey and Hanna Tulli. The two seniors are two-time All-State selections. Harvey led the Golden Panthers in assists while Tulli led the team in kills.

Pennridge’s Rileigh Bowen represents the SOL Continen

tal champs while HatboroHorsham’s Nastya Tsetsko earned a spot for the SOL American winners.

Plymouth Whitemarsh’s Aja Smith and Upper Dublin’s Anna Faust also earned first team spots from the SOL American. Faust is the Cardinals program leader with 1,349 career digs and is a twotime first team All-League selection.

Germantown Academy’s Natalie Schildt rounds out the first team from the Inter-Ac. She was the best passer and server for the Patriots this season while totaling 88 kills and hitting above .300 in ev

ery match.

Meghan McCann and Ava Adamson earned second team spots after leading Archbishop Carroll to the state playoffs. Lansdale Catholic’s Tori Rogge also earned a second team honor from the PCL.

From the SOL, CB West’s Maggie McCusker, H-H’s Jess Howard, Pennridge’s Isabella Cooper and North Penn’s Charlotte Patterson round out the second team. McCusker did a little bit of everything for the Bucks, posting 278 assists, 26 aces, 48 kills, eight blocks and 116 digs.
