Township adopts 2021 budget with tax hike
The township real estate tax is currently the lowest municipal rate in Montgomery County, officials say.
WORCESTER » The 2021 budget adopted by the township board of supervisors includes no new taxes and no tax increases, according to a press release from the township.
The current township real estate ta x, at 0.05 mills, is the lowest municipal millage rate in Montgomery County, the release stated. This means that the owner of a property in Worcester Township that is assessed at $300,000 (the approximate assessment for a house with a market value of $650,000) pays $15 in property tax to the township.
The 2021 budget provides:
• more than $900,000 in road improvements;
• several improvements to township trails and parks;
• a 5% increase to the township’s contribution to the Worcester Township Volunteer Fire Department;
• a 5% increase to the township’s contribution to the Norristown Library, and
• new Public Works equipment.
The budget proposes a one percent increase in residential and commercial sewer rates in the coming year. For residential customers the sewer rate will increase by about 44 cents per month.

Worcester Township has a population of about 10,480 residents and encompasses an area of 16.22 square miles. The township’s Center Point Village is the official geographical center of Montgomery County.
