WHITPAIN » Abramson Senior Care, a nonprofit organization providing patient-centered care for aging adults in the Delaware Valley, has started providing COVID-19 vaccinations for staff members at their Blue Bell location. Front-line workers—including home care nurses, hospice care staff, health aids and other employees working with a high-risk community—were the first to receive the initial dose of the Moderna vaccine, which is being administered by Wellness Pharmacy Services, Abramson Senior Care’s pharmacy partner. The vaccine is being administered at various Abramson Senior Care locations, including its corporate headquarters, which is the home of Abramson’s hospice and palliative care programs. Abramson leadership is encouraged by, and proud, of its staff’s commitment and responsiveness in terms of recognizing the critical importance of getting vaccinated to protect both themselves and the fragile populations they serve.

“We are fortunate to have this opportunity to protect our front-line workers and the people they directly care for, as well as the family and other caretakers in our community,” said Sean Gregson, Vice President Community Services, Abramson Senior Care. “Our teams serve patients in their homes, senior living communities and skilled nursing facilities. The fact that we are out in the community every day means we believe that we have a responsibility to take these steps—and we do so confidently thanks to the strong science demonstrating the safety and efficacy of these vaccines. We encourage everyone who is on the recommendation list for vaccine availability to strongly consider getting vaccinated in order to protect themselves and their community.”

A major part of the initial vaccination efforts and based in Blue Bell, Abramson’s hospice care and palliative care services provide care seven days a week, traveling to deliver care throughout the county and region.

Experts in aging, Abramson offers a 24/7 telephonic care line in which their care advisors provide free community information and referral for caregivers, family members and senior facility staff to provide ongoing education, to promote best practices and to help support families and their loved ones through the journey of the aging process as their needs evolve.

Leveraging their over 150 years of experience and depth of resources, Abramson offers this free service as a place for families to turn if they have an aging loved one and aren’t sure what is needed. They can be reached at 215-3713400.
