McCarthy, PJP dominate 2nd quarter in win over Pottstown

POPE JOHN PAUL II 55, POTTSTOWN 39 » The Golden Panthers dominated the second quarter to spark a PAC Frontier win over Pottstown Wednesday night.

Luke McCarthy scored eight of his 15 points in the second quarter as PJP outscored the Trojans, 15-5, to take a 10-point lead into halftime.

JP Baron also scored 15 points for PJP and Kevin Green added 14.

Girls basketball

HATBORO-HORSHAM 51, UPPER MORELAND 46 » Alice Hall scored 17 points to lead the Hatters to a nonleague win over Upper Moreland Wednesday night.

Caroline Shegogue and Emily Thomas also scored in double figures for Hatboro-Horsham,

totaling 13 and 10 points, respective­ly.

The Hatters overcame an 11-point halftime deficit, hitting four three-pointers in the third quarter to get within two heading to the fourth.

Hall scored eight points in the fourth quarter and Shegogue added seven to complete the comeback.

Holly Gohl led the Golden Bears with 17 points, Kaiya Herb added 12 and Emmy Faith Wood 11.

Boys bowling

NORTH PENN 4, PENNRIDGE 0» Lucas Francis rolled a 737 series to lead the Knights to a sweep over SOL American rival Pennridge Wednesday.

Francis bowled games of 233, 247 and 257 — the three top scores in the match — for North Penn.

Parikh and Ryan Baker all rolled high-games of 199 for NP and Zach Kline’s top game was 195.

Reid Lechowicz led Pennridge with a 413 series and high-game of 152.

Girls bowling PENNRIDGE 4, NORTH PENN 0»

Maribeth Baker rolled a 573 series to lead the Rams to a sweep over SOL American rival North Penn Wednesday.

Baker, who rolled a 746 series last week, bowled games of 234, 175 and 164 against the Knights.

Seoyeon Lee led North Penn with a 361 series and 141 high-game.

CB South picked up an SOL Colonial Division win over a short-handed CB West team Wednesday night.

Three of the Titans seven victories came by forfeit.

West’s Jack Wierzbowsk­i, Nick Isaac, Carl DiGiorgio, Teague McCormack and Chris Cleland all won with pins. Matt Cleland won his 138-pound match, 12-3.
