PJP II stays on a roll, knocks off PV

While the Perkiomen Valley boys basketball team finally got its season underway Monday night, Pope John Paul II continued the roll its been on the past two weeks.

Powered by a careerhigh 22 points from senior guard Luke McCarthy and 18 points from junior Kevin Green the Golden Panthers cruised past the Vikings, 76-52, for a Pioneer Athletic Conference crossover victory, improving their record to 4-0 .

McCarthy, who was scoreless in the first quarter, scored 18 of his points in the second half, tallying eight in the third and 10 in the fourth.

He knocked down three 3-point shots and was a perfect 7-for-7 at the foul line in the contest.

Justin Green, who temporaril­y left the game with an ankle injury, and Jaden Workman added 11 points apiece to the winning cause. Kameron Parks and Tyler Lapetina shared scoring honors for PV with 14 apiece.

Monday’s victory was the second victory of 20-ormore points for PJP this season. They’ve won each of their four games by at least 14 points.

UPPER MERION 64, OWEN J. ROBERTS 57 » Three Vikings combined to score 43 points, that balanced offense key to Monday’s PAC divisional crossover victory over the Wildcats.

Lukas Kim had a gamehigh 15 points for UM, one more than teammates Ty Jones and Collin Bowman. It was able to erase Roberts’ 23-17 first-quarter lead and take the fourth, 15-8, for the deciding margin.

Jake Bolyn scored 13 to head OJR’s quartet of double-figure scorers, which included Chase Johnson’s 12 and 11s from Sam Cerimele and Luke Fryer.

Girls Basketball PJP II 44, PERK VALLEY 30 »

Amelia Kennedy led Pope John Paul II with 17 points and Kallan Bustynowic­z had 11 points as the Golden Panthers defeated Perkiomen Valley 44-30 on Monday night. The Golden Panthers capitalize­d on 14 made free throws and 4 three-point goals. Emma Miley led the Lady Vikings with 10 points.

SOUDERTON 108, CB WEST 73 » Ellie Hiestand led the way for the Indians (3-2, 3-1 Colonial) by taking home two first-place finishes in the 50 free (25.90) and 100 back (1.00.78). She was also a member of the winning 200 medley relay squad. WISSAHICKO­N 101, PW 85 » The Trojans placed 1-2 in both the 200 free (Sarach Pickel and Bernice Fu) and 200 IM (Maddie Johnson and Eunice Fu). The Trojans also took 1-2 in the 500 free (Bernice Fu and Kayla Hartzel). The Trojans also took 1-2 in the 100 breast behind the work of Maddie Johnson and Julia Ronca. Wiss closed out the meet with a winning 400 free relay behind Sarah Pickel, Eunice Fu, Bernie Fu and Ava Walters.

Boys Swimming SOUDERTON 94, CB WEST 86

» Brien Yaglenski led the way for the Indians by taking home first in the 100 free and combining with Abraham Bleazard, Elijah Gehman and Drew Stephens to take home the 200 medley relay in 1:48.88. CB West kept it close behind Holden Petty and Franky Swain, both double-winners on the day.

Boys Bowling

PW 4, NORTH PENN 0 » Lucas Francis kept up his dominating season by rolling a 715 series with a game-high 265. Tyler Johnson (201) and Ryan Baker (217) also had good days for the Knights. The Colonials had three bowlers top the 600-series mark with Tyler Panzer leading the way with a consistent mark of 214231-235. Other 600’s were Alfredo Jimenez (628) and Daniel Lee (643). Frank McKeever rolled his highest series with a 558 and Brandon Reinhart added a 204.

Girls Bowling

PW 4, NORTH PENN 0 » North Penn’s higlight came from Lorna Loughery rolling her best to date game with a 158-421. Younger sister Megan also had her high game of the year with a 131. PW was led by a fantastic night from Gabby Muncy rolling games of 150-205-191 for a high series of 546. Adrian Boyle added a nice second game of 153.
