Bowman sends Upper Merion past Methacton

Boys Basketball

UPPER MERION 45, METHACTON 43 » Vikings’ Collin Bowman knocked four threes, including the goahead triple late in the fourth quarter, in Monday’s PAC crossover win over the Warriors.

Bowman finished with 14 points for Upper Merion. Ty Jones and Frank Herman, who blocked a potential Methacton go-ahead shot, both had 11 points in the win.

Steven Penjuke had 15 points for Methacton, knocking down five threes. Brett Byrne had 11.

Wrestling

BOYERTOWN 62, METHACTON 6 » Boyertown reeled off eight pins — the quickest a 24-second slap by Asher Sigler at 113 in the first match of the night — in a rout of the Warriors on Monday in a PAC contest.

Luke Heimbach (120), Jay Maldonando (126), Chance Babb (152), Jimmy Sinclair (172), Anthony Bauer (189), Michael Kelleher (285) and Gavin Sheridan (106) added pins for Boyertown.

Boyertown’s Dominic Sheridan (138), Ryder Gehris (145) and Preston Fox (215) added wins by technical fall, decision and disqualifi­cation, respective­ly.

Joey Simko and Brody Borkowski won matches for Methacton. Simko pinned Ryan Bove at 126 pounds, and Borkowski won the night’s closed match, 5-4, over Nicholas Montanye at 160.

Girls Basketball

PJP II 31, OWEN J. ROBERTS 28 » Tess Crossan’s free throws with 4.4 seconds left put Pope John Paul II up by three, and Owen J. Roberts’ last-second shot rimmed out as the Golden Panthers took home a 31-28 Pioneer Athletic Conference Crossover win Monday.

Crossan led PJP with 13 points and seven assists. Lainey Owens followed with eight points. Amelia Kennedy chipped in four points and eight steals, while Kallan Bustynowic­z tallied eight blocks and 11 rebounds. Avery White, who moved into fourth place on the OJR scoring list Saturday, led the Wildcats with 12 points.

OJR led 13-12 at halftime before PJP outscored the Wildcats, 10-4, in the third quarter to take the lead. Kennedy scored a layup and knocked down a free throw to extend the Golden Panthers’ advantage to 29-25 late in the fourth. OJR’s White knocked down a three to cut the lead to one before Crossan helped seal the game at the line. METHACTON 67, UPPER MERION 9 » Nicole Timko and Alli Hazlett (12 rebounds) both tallied 14 points as the Warriors cruised to a PAC Crossover win over the Vikings on Monday.

Catherine Connolly and Mairi Smith followed with nine points apiece for Methacton. Melissa McCabe led Upper Merion with four. Timko now stands at 990 points for her career.

QUAKERTOWN 51, HATBOROHOR­SHAM 46 » The Hatters fell in overtime on Monday despite 11 points from Ava McKinney.

JENKINTOWN 59, DOCK 17

» Shooting woes plagued Dock in its matchup against Jenkintown on Monday. Down by 15 after the first quarter, Dock struggled to make shots and keep up with the high-powered Drakes. Dock was led by senior forward Jocelyn Pfleiger with 6 points.
