Gwynedd Square Presbyterian members honor hospital workers
LANSDALE » As the region enters the second year of the global COVID-19 pandemic, Gwynedd Square Presbyterian Church (GSPC) members decided to express gratitude and ongoing appreciation to front-line workers who have worked tirelessly this past year to care for the community by giving them a “snack break.”
Trays of soft pretzels from Philly Pretzel Factory of Lansdale, along with healthy fruit and vegetable trays, were delivered by members of the GSPC Mission Team to three local organizations involved in battling the virus: the Abington Lansdale Hospital – Jefferson Health (5 nursing stations plus ER nurses/ staff), Einstein Medical Center Montgomery (Clinical Laboratory and Emergency Department), and the Volunteer Medical Services Corps of Lansdale (EMTs and staff).
These thank-you deliveries are just one of the many community-focused outreach activities of Gwynedd Square Presbyterian Church. Providing food to local food pantries, collecting school supplies and Christmas presents to those in need and sponsoring regular Red Cross blood drives are a few examples of the local mission work performed by GSPC members and community friends. In May, GSPC’s Mission Team will be hosting a Spring Virtual Mission Week, featuring a variety of outreach activities that can be done at home. Mission Week will directly benefit local non-profits providing critical services, including Manna on Main Street and Keystone Opportunity Center. Anyone in the broader area community is welcome to participate.
Gwynedd Square Presbyterian Church is located on Sumneytown Pike in Lansdale, just north of S. Broad Street. Weekly worship is currently being held online via Zoom. The Zoom links and additional information about the missions and ministries of the church can be found on the church website, GwyneddSquare.org. The church also maintains an active Facebook page: Facebook. com/GSPChurch. Registration details for Spring Mission Week will be posted on both sites in April.
