Abington’s Rockower rolls to Liberty title

SOL LIBERTY >> Abington’s Alex Rockower rolled to the SOL Liberty singles title after a scare in the first round. Wissahicko­n’s Braedon Urzua fell 9-7 to Rockower in the first match of the day.

Then, Rockower dropped just one game in the next two matches, rolling past Wissahicko­n’s Andy Wang in the final. Wang got a measure of revenge in the semis with a win over Upper Dublin’s Daniel Duan, who took third. METHACTON 4, PERKIOMEN VALLEY 3 >> Drew Samtmann and Zach Stevenson’s three-set win at No. 1 doubles tipped the tied match in the Warriors’ favor in a tight PAC match Thursday.

Methacton’s other wins came from Darren Brady and Akosh Suresh at Nos. 2 and 3 singles, and the third doubles team of AJ Schneider and Ethan O’Brien.

PV’s wins came from Aaron Fry, a 6-0, 7-5 winner over Jeff Cooper at No. 1 singles, and the doubles teams of Evan Butler and Eli Volcsko at No. 2 and Justin Tagert and Colin Ousey at No. 4. Both duos rallied from a set down to win their matches. POTTSGROVE 5, POPE JOHN PAUL II 2 >> A sweep of the doubles bracket proved enough to lift the Falcons over the Golden Panthers in Thursday’s PAC match.

Pottsgrove’s fourth-doubles team of Luke Kaiser and Kevin Michuki had the team’s best showing, a 6-0, 6-0 victory. PJP’s points came from Tommy Rutkowski and J.T. Collins at first and second singles, respective­ly.

Spring-Ford 7, Upper Perkiomen 0 >> The Rams dropped just eight games throughout the lineup on the way to their PAC sweep of the Indians Thursday.

Ryan Miller and Colton Pollock scored 6-0, 6-0 wins in their respective secondand third-singles duels. Josh Pergine and Navein Suresh also went 6-0, 6-0 at firt doubles.

Boys Volleyball

DOCK 3, UNIONVILLE 2 >> Two years ago Dock, went to Unionville and lost. This time, with this team, Dock went to Unionville, worked hard and battled to earn a win. The match had great plays, both offensive and defensive. The lead changed hands multiple times. SOUDERTON 3, QUAKERTOWN 0>> The Indians swept to the victory with scores of 25-18, 25-12 and 25-17 on Thursday.

Softball

DOCK 15, MORRISVILL­E 8 >> Dock scored runs in all six innings and picked up the win on Thursday. Katherine Kardos had two hits and two RBI’s. Kaci Alderfer and Trinity Landis each had three hits. Erin Miles had two hits, three runs scored and two stolen bases. Trinity Landis pitched 5 2.3 innings with Maggie Dowell relieving her and recording the last four outs of the game.
