Souderton rallies past Pennsbury on emotional night

SOUDERTON 8, PENNSBURY 6 » In an emotional night playing for defenseman Manny Puente’s father Jason who passed away one year ago, Souderton jumped on top and never relinquish­ed the lead or the momentum in a big win for the Indians. Tyson Bui aided Souderton’s charge with one goal and one assist, while Ty Quintois added two goals. Kobe Bui came through with three goals and one assist, while Seth Grossman and Jamison McDivitt also scored for the Indians. Nick Curotto added an assist for Souderton on a full field pass.

PERK VALLEY 15, UPPER MERION 2 » After a slow start, the PV Vikings took control with a 6-0 second quarter and coasted to the win on Saturday. Jack Scaliti led the way with two goals and two assists. Jacob Klosinski had two saves in goal. Rocco Lindelow made 12 saves for Upper Merion.

After a slow start the Perk Valley Vikings took control with a 6-0 second quarter to cruise to a 15-2 win over their hosts. Jack Scaliti led the way with a 2g 2a game. Jacob Klosinski had 2 saves in goal. PV after getting 9 shots on goal on the first quarter got themselves dialed the rest of the way.

PENNRIDGE 8, SPRINGFIEL­DMONTCO 7 » Chris Fanelli scored five goals, while Frankie Fanelli added a goal and an assist as the Rams rallied for the win on Friday. Jake Stranix added a goal and an assist for Pennridge, while Ryan Carickhoff added three assists for Pennridge.

CB EAST 5, NORTH PENN 1 » Matt Kuhn made 16 saves in net but the Knights dropped the contest on Friday. Dakari Luby scored the lone goal for North Penn.

WISSAHICKO­N 20, TENNENT 1» The Trojans were led by three goals by Jimmy Mallott. Nick Donofrio and Gavin Meyers both scored two goals. Jake Slackman and Jason Michaels both added a goal and Alex Solomon, Domenic Kemper, Dylan Lynagh, Matthew Slovin, Charlie Stehlick and Kyle Doll all scored their first varsity goals.

OWEN J. ROBERTS 13, POPE JOHN PAUL 5 » John Devine was a six-goal sensation for OJR in a PAC win over PJP

Dylan Mercadante added two goals and two assists and Gabriel Dellapenna also scored twice. Will Whitlock also scored.

Ambrose Collilouri netted a hat trick for PJP, whose other goals came from Luke Sykes (two assists, 10 ground balls) and Eric Zadroga. Connor Gucwa handled five ground balls and Sean Fallon had a seven-save game in goal.

Baseball

POPE JOHN PAUL II 8, NORRISTOWN 3 » Brendan Kenning and Nik Rubendall homered for the Golden Panthers in Friday’s PAC Crossover win over the Eagles.

Kenning went 2-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored. He also added two shutout innings of scoreless relief. Rubendall had a 2-for-2 day with two RBI. Matt Kossey earned the win with five strong innings, giving up just two hits and striking out seven while allowing three runs. OWEN J. ROBERTS 15, NORRISTOWN 0 » Wildcats’ pitchers Cameron Brashear and Christian Grillo combined for the three-inning shutout in Friday’s PAC Liberty win over the Eagles.

Brashear struck out four and allowed two hits in the first two innings before Grillo pitched a scoreless third. Tristan Dietrich went 2-for-2 with a double to lead OJR at the plate. METHACTON 12, UPPER MERION 6» The Warriors plated three-or-more runs in three of the first four innings on the way to Friday’s PAC Crossover win over the Vikings.

Nolan McCloskey went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored. Mario D’Addesi also tallied a pair of hits. Starting pitcher Tyler WeilKasper helped his own cause with three RBI.

Matt Christian didn’t allow an earned run in four innings in relief of WeilKasper (five strikeouts, four earned runs) to finish off the victory.

DOCK 4, ST. BASIL ACADEMY 3 » Dock had a 4-1 lead until the top of the seventh when St. Basil scored two to make things interestin­g. Maggie Dowell was able to close out the game and get the complete-game win, giving up five hits and six strikeouts. Dock freshman Anna Smith was 3-for-3 with a double and a triple, Jocelyn Pfleiger was 1-for-3 with a double and three RBI’s. Erin Miles was 1-for-2 with a walk, two runs scored and four stolen bases. METHACTON 15, UPPER MERION 0 » Warriors’ Paige Deal kept the Vikings without a hit in Friday’s PAC Crossover win.

Deal struck out six and walked four in the threeinnin­g win. She also went 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBI, including a tworun homer to open the game’s scoring.

Avery Schwartz doubled twice and drove in four runs for Methacton. Caitlin Woolbert went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI. HATBORO-HORSHAM 16, UPPER DUBLIN 0 » The Hatters won big on Friday behind an offensive onslaught led by Kristen Myers, who hit a three-run home run. WC HENDERSON 16, SOUDERTON 13 » The Indians couldn’t hold onto an 8-5 halftime advantage and dropped the nonconfere­nce game on Friday. Lauren Hallman led Souderton with six goals, while Reiley Knize and Clark Trowbridge each scored three goals for the Indians.

JENKINTOWN 10, LC 9 » The Crusaders dropped a heartbreak­er on Friday in nonconfere­nce action. Grace Picozzi led the way for LC with three goals.

OWEN J. ROBERTS 20, NORRISTOWN 0 » Emily Himmelreic­h’s hat trick paced the way for the Wildcats in Friday’s PAC Liberty win over the Eagles.

Blakely Doyle (assist), Ava Clemson and Kallie Mullen (7 DCs, 3 GBs) each added a pair of goals in the OJR win. Maggie Kilgallon and Morgan Karas chipped in a goal apiece and both racked up three assists as well. Gracyn Smith and Lexi Muir added a goal and two assists each.

METHACTON 15, BOYERTOWN 6 » Hat tricks by Jayme Weber, Julia McCann and Megan Sanelli helped the Warriors blow open a close PAC Liberty Division game with the Bears Thursday.

Methacton also got twogoal showings from Michelle Zhai and Kealy McCarthy, along with solo tallies from Rylie Derrickson and Alexa Kratz. Boyertown, which trailed by a narrow 6-5 count at the half, got two goals from Delaney Fox and Ali Pioli, and one apiece from Allie Schell, Jordan Woodring, MacKenzie Clark had 10 saves for the Warriors, Elli Ferraro 12 for the Bears.

UPPER MERION 14, POPE JOHN PAUL II 4 » Cat Merritt singlehand­edly outscored the entire Golden Panther lineup in keying the Vikings’ PAC Frontier Division victory Thursday.

Merritt scored five goals while assisting on a sixth as UM opened a 9-2 halftime lead. Julianna Callison, Ashley Evitts and Olivia Smith completed the Vikes’ scoring with hat tricks while PJP’s offense featured two by Kallan Bustynowic­z and one apiece from Rory Nelson and Annie Rathgeb.

SPRING-FORD 22, NORRISTOWN 1 » With 14 players getting into the scoring act, the Rams rolled over the Eagles in Thursday’s PAC Liberty Division contest.

Emma Sowers netted a hat trick and two assists to lead Spring-Ford’s balanced offense, which also got two-goal production­s from Lexi Sowers, Alyssa Mozi (two assists), Mac Maloney, Madi Doyle, Maddie Pierce and Giana DiBattista. Abbey Boyer, Alyssia Collins, Summer Smith (three assists), Brenna Whiteside (two assists), Lindsay Evak, Brynn Frankhouse­r and Karly Cabot completed the SF point production. ARCHBISHOP CARROLL 16, BISHOP MCDEVITT 0 » Carroll scored all 16 goals in the first half in beating McDevitt. Carroll improved its first-place record in the Catholic League to 6-0, and overall 6-1. All 16 goals were scored by different players. Goalie Bridget Robinson faced no shots in picking up her 4th straight shutout win. Goalie Abbie Carney from McDevitt turned away six shots.

PHOENIXVIL­LE 7, UPPER MERION 0 » The Phantoms dropped only two games in the doubles bracket on their way to a sweep of the Vikings in Thursday’s PAC matchup.

The doubles teams of Anthony DeLuca/Oliver Gordon (first) and Luka Eaton/ Brandon Benkler (fourth) posted identical 6-0, 6-0 wins. UM’s best individual showing came at first singles, where Jon Doan extended Josh Starczewsk­i to three sets.

WISSAHICKO­N 13, LOWER MORELAND 1 » Abby DeGroat scored three goals with one assist and six draw controls for the Trojans.

Emma Baker scored three goals with one assist, two ground balls and six draw controls for Wiss.

Also for Wissahicko­n, Quinn Gaffey scored twice with one assist; Chloe Lee scored twice; Sophia Chiodo Ortiz scored a goal with two assists and two intercepti­ons; Lexi Hobson scored a goal, with one assist, three ground balls, one draw control and one caused turnover; Alena Doll scored a goal with a caused turnover; Haley Reed had a ground ball and a caused turnover; and goalie Madeline Murphy had four saves and a ground ball.

NORTH PENN 5, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 2 » The Knights ran their unbeaten mark to 9-0 on Thursday with an impressive win over the Golden Hawks.

Alex Sterin of Rock South defeated Jay Doscher 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1 spot and Mikkel Zinder of Rock South defeated Ansh Sharma 6-0, 6-1 at second singles, but then it was all North Penn.

Hans Perera defeated Ryan Kraychik 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 at third singles for NP.

And then in the doubles matches, Andrew BrownAlex Brown defeated Michael Mogil and Dhruv Parekh 6-1, 6-1; Dave Horrell and Jack Bachman defeated Thomas Marcus and Alex Polak 6-4, 1-6, 7-5; Nikhil Madaka and Jigar Dadarwala defeated Dan Laufer and Marcus Zeone 6-0, 6-0; and Collin McGuire and Adi Ingle beat Jason Kluger and Derek McKnight 6-0, 6-1.
