Cards edge Knights in heavyweigh­t battle

UPPER DUBLIN 4, NORTH PENN 3 » Two of the top teams in the area went at it on Friday, with the Cardinals pulling out the nonconfere­nce victory.

It was North Penn’s (121) first defeat of 2021. The Knights close out the regular season against Quakertown Monday.

No. 1 singles went back and forth, with Daniel Duan defeating Jay Doscher 2-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3. Ansh Sharma topped Harrison Liu 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) at second singles and Scott Schlackman defeated Hans Perera 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3.

Andrew Brown and Alex Brown defeated Tommaso Seravini and Tim Shaeffer 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 at first doubles; Zack Hunter and Chris

Hong defeated Dave Horrell and Jack Bachman 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles; Aidan Peyton and Jongmin Kwak defeated Nikhil Madaka and Jigar Dadarwala 6-3, 6-4 at third doubles; and Collin McGuire and Adi Ingle defeated Josh Torban and Daniel Liu 6-3, 6-3 at fourth doubles.

NORTH PENN 6, SOUDERTON AREA 1 » The Knights combined forces on Thursday to capture the Suburban One League Colonial Division Championsh­ip in impressive fashion.

NP raised its Colonial record to 5-0 and was 12-0 overall on the year with the win.

At No. 1 singles, Jay Doscher of North Penn defeated Jared Archer 6-1, 6-0. And at No. 2 and No. 3, Ansh Sharma defeated Will Wiess 6-1, 6-0, and Hans Perera of the Knights won 6-1, 6-1 over Owen Dougherty.

At doubles, Andrew Brown and Alex Brown of NP won 6-1, 6-0 over Bada Ekecs and Devesh Bungataval­a; Clark Vandawater and Stephen Butler of Souderton defeated Dave Horrell and Jack Bachman 6-1, 3-6, 6-4; Nikhil Madaka and Jigar Dadarwala of NP defeated Adam Borisow and Jack Grabowski 6-3, 7-5; and Collin McGuire and Adi Ingle defeated Nick Talarico and Bryan Wu 6-1, 6-3.

PENNRIDGE 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 0 » The Rams won 25-23, 25-15, 25-21 over the Titans on Thursday night.

Ryan Benscoter (11 kills, two blocks), Tyler Johnson (seven kills), Bryce Muller (six kills, three blocks, three aces), Thomas McKinney (three kills, four digs), Skyler Ammon (two kills, four digs, four aces), Dan Detweiler (five digs) and Riley Kodidek (27 assists) all played a key role for the Rams.

Pennridge is now 7-2 on the season.

Golf

Twin Woods Golf Women’s League is beginning it’s 50th season this month. The league Ladies of the Woods meets every Wednesday morning from April through September. One of the leagues’ members is also beginning her 50th straight season with the league. Mary Pileggi of Ambler is the only player to participat­e in each season.
