Wiss routs Quakertown, clinches SOL American title

WISSAHICKO­N 17, QUAKERTOWN 4 >> Abby DeGroat scored six goals as the Trojans clinched the SOL American crown on Monday. Emma Baker added five goals and three assists, while Lexi Hobson chipped in with two goals and one assist. Quinn Gaffney added five assists and one goal, while Sophia Chiodo Ortiz also scored.

ARCHBISHOP CARROLL 12, SPRINGFIEL­D-DELCO 3 >> Carroll broke open a 2-2 game to score 4 straight goals and take a 6-2 halftime lead against nonleague foe Springfiel­d. Carroll added 6 more goals in the second half, and Springfiel­d 1, to make the final score 12-3. Carroll was led by Emma Talego’s hat trick and 2 goals each by Julia Basciano and Kiley Mottice.

SOUDERTON 12, CR SOUTH 8 >> Lauren Hallman scored four goals and finished with 10 draw controls as the Big Red picked up the win on Monday. Reiley Knize added three goals and one assist, while Isabel John, Ang Borisow, Caroline Kelly, Clark Trowbridge and Lexi Krebs also scored for Souderton.

WISSAHICKO­N 22, QUAKERTOWN 1 >> The Trojans cleared the bench early in the second quarter and saw 14 different players put points on the board. Wiss led 18-1 at the half. Jackson Intrieri led the attack with two goals and five assists, while Kyle Lehman added four goals and one assist.

SOUDERTON 3, DOCK 1 >> The Indians rallied for the win on Senior Night, pulling out a 19-25, 29-27, 2521 and 25-20 decision on Monday. Andrew Brown and Aidan Wunderly each finished with 13 kills, while Tate Kreisesr added 14 digs. Also for Souderton, Matt Quizon added six kills and six blocks, while Nate Brown delivered 39 assists.

Baseball

UPPER PERKIOMEN 3,METHACTON 1 >> Malachi Duka struck out 11 and allowed a run on two hits over 6.1 innings to hurl the Tribe to a PAC cross-division win over the Warriors Monday. Evan Shade and Conor Martin drove in runs for UP while Dalton Dunlap (double) and Jacob Ankele both were 2-for-3 to lead the 7-hit offense. Kross Howarth drove in Methacton’s run.

SOUDERTON 5, CB EAST 4 >>

The Indians rallied from a 4-0 deficit, including scoring four in the bottom of the sixth inning to pick up the win on Monday. Shanley Wall went 2-for-2 at the plate, scoring two runs and knocking in one. Winning pitcher Jacob Horton knocked in two runs in the 6th with a two-out single. Horton allowed six hits and four runs in six innings of work. Zach Crouthamel pitched one inning of relief to earn the save.

Softball

METHACTON 2, UPPER PERKIOMEN 1 >> Caraline Newman’s walkoff home run in the ninth inning decided Monday’s pitchers’ duel between Paige Deal and Upper Perk’s Taylor Croak. Methacton’s Deal and UP’s Croak each allowed only a run through eight innings, the Warriors’ run coming on a Nicole Timko homer and the Tribe manufactur­ing a run in the sixth. Deal allowed three hits and struck out 16. Croak allowed four hits and two runs over eight innings with three Ks and a walk.

DOCK 12, ST. BASIL 9 >> Dock collected 15 hits in picking up the nonconfere­nce win on Monday. Maggie Dowell was the winning pitcher and also had her first 4-hit day at the plate with 3 RBI. Katherine Kardos had another 3-hit game and Jocelyn Pfleiger added 2 doubles and a single while scoring 4 runs. QUAKERTOWN 4, UPPPER DUBLIN 2 >> Chloe Foster hit a two-run homer and also struck out eight in seven innings, but the Cardinals dropped the game on Monday. Upper Dublin loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth with two outs, but Quakertown’s Syd Andrews pitched out of a jam with a strikeout and then struck out the side in the seventh. Lauren Carboni was 2-for-3 to pace the Cards’ attack.
