A much-respected pharmacy administrator, director and advisor in the Philadelphia area, Sean leaves behind a legacy of service to some of Pennsylvania’s best hospitals that is second only to his devotion as father to his two daughters, Alexa and Ava.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, Sean spent his childhood in Mountaintop. He received his Sacraments at St. Jude Parish and was a 1987 graduate of Crestwood High School. At Crestwood, Sean was a standout tight end and linebacker on the Comets football team and was named to numerous all-area teams. He played in the 1987 Unico All-Star Football Classic.

Sean attended Bloomsburg University, where he was a member of the football team, before transferring to Temple University to complete a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy as a cum laude graduate.

Sean later pursued post-graduate studies at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and completed his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2004. In 2008, he competed an MBA, pharmacy business and marketing, at St. Joseph’s University’s Haub School of Business, summa cum laude.

Sean’s expertise in health care ranged from pharmacy administration to quality control, workflow and cost-containment.

He first joined the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania as a clinical pharmacist in 1993 and soon was promoted to senior pharmacist and preceptor/instructor. Later he managed the outpatient pharmacy.

From 2003 to 2005, Sean was the associate director of pharmacy at Lehigh Valley Health

Network. For two years, he was general manager with Home Infusion Solutions LLC.

Sean then was affiliated with Trinity Health for five years, first as clinical content manager and

workflow subject matter expert and later as system director of clinical pharmacy. He was also a pharmacy operations advisor to Cooper University Health System.

At the time of his death, Sean was director pharmacy purchasing with AllSpire Health GPO.

Sean also had earned a certificate in medical informatics at Drexel University and competed a qualification with ASHP Pharmacy Leadership Institute at Boston University.

Aside from spending quality time with his daughters, Sean was a longtime season-ticket holder of the Philadelphia Flyers and Temple Owls. He also was an avid golfer. Sean became somewhat of a local legend of the links in the late-1990s after achieving two holes-in-one in a single round at a country club in Delaware County.

Sean was preceded in death by his Dominick Yanchunas Sr., of Mountaintop.

Surviving besides his two daughters are his mother, Olive Yanchunas of Drums; brothers Dominick Yanchunas Jr. and wife Gail, of Staten Island, N.Y., and Victor Yanchunas of Drums; sister Catherine Girton and husband Philip Girton of Millville; niece Anastasia Girton and nephew Andrew Girton, and ex-wife Marcy Yanchunas of Harleysville.

Sean’s infectious smile and trademark laugh brightened the spirits of friends from Mountaintop to Montgomery County. He will be dearly missed.
