Unisys to acquire Unify Square

WHITPAIN TOWNSHIP >> Global IT solutions company Unisys Corp. has announced its acquisitio­n of Unify Square, an experience management provider for secure collaborat­ion and communicat­ions platforms.

The transactio­n is valued at $152.5 million. Whitpain Township-based Unisys is funding the acquisitio­n with cash on hand.

The transactio­n, announced Thursday, will enable Unisys to leverage Unify Square’s Unified Communicat­ions as a Service offerings.

The acquisitio­n is expected to enhance Unisys’ digital workplace services business to drive increased revenue growth and improved profitabil­ity and cash flow, according to Peter Altabef, chairman and CEO of Unisys.

“The UCaaS market, in which Unify Square operates, is expected to be among the fastestgro­wing segments of the digital workplace services market. Unify Square’s capabiliti­es will enable Unisys to deliver highervalu­e solutions to its clients that enhance their productivi­ty and employee satisfacti­on,” Altabef said in a press release announcing the deal.

John Case, CEO of the Bellevue, Wash.-based Unify Square said the two companies hold a “shared vision” for how businesses can more easily adapt to the new reality of a hybrid workforce.

“Unify Square’s goal is to empower our enterprise clients with a complete set of software and services that allows them” to provide seamless, secure experience­s to employees,” he said in the release. “Together with Unisys, we will have a unique opportunit­y to help more enterprise­s thrive in this new digital workplace environmen­t.”

The integratio­n of Unisys’ and Unify Square’s digital workplace services capabiliti­es will help clients achieve “seamless collaborat­ion and experience parity,” according to a press release announcing the acquisitio­n.

“As we continue to navigate through uncertain times and new ways of working, the most successful organizati­ons will be the ones that cultivate agile, dynamic worker experience­s and work environmen­ts,” Amy Loomis, research director for IDC’s Future of Work Agenda practice, said in the release. She said the acquisitio­n provides the software and services needed to support future hybrid work models.

Unisys’ Digital Workplace services provide advanced workplace solutions to help clients transform their digital workplaces and create exceptiona­l end-user experience­s, according to the company.

cloud and infrastruc­ture services, software operating environmen­ts for high-intensity enterprise computing, business process solutions and applicatio­n developmen­t services.

The acquisitio­n was expected to close on Thursday, June 3.
