Variety Club’s summer camp back in session
Welcomes back more than 130 kids with disabilities to campus for summer fun
WORCESTER >> On Monday, June 21, Variety – the Children’s Charity of the Delaware Valley celebrated its 72nd year of summer camp and welcomed more than 130 children with disabilities back to campus for the summer.
Honored guests, including Montgomery County Commissioner Joe Gale and Manager, External Affairs at PECO & 2021 Golden Heart of Variety Award Recipient, Ed McBride participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony and joined campers in singing a traditional camp song to kick off the first day of camp and an 8-week long summer camp season.
Variety’s mission is to enrich the lives of children and young adults with disabilities through social, educational and vocational programs that nurture independence and self-confidence, and prepare them for life. It is one of the only organizations in the region that was able to provide onsite programming throughout the pandemic and is thrilled to welcome back hundreds of campers and families this year in a safe and fun-filled atmosphere.
Each year, families eagerly await coming “home” to Variety for a summer full of rich relationships and engaging activities. Variety summer camps include day camp, overnight camp, extended school year (ESY) and vocational camp.
In addition, Variety’s piloted workforce development model VarietyWorks is making a difference in the lives of the young adults who are receiving valuable job training and independent job placement.
