KING OF PRUSSIA >> Christopher Connor did everything in pairs Wednesday night, and his two doubles, two runs and two RBI helped lead Valley Forge to a 5-2 victory over Towamencin at Heuser Park.

“I was just trying to stay confident at the plate,” Connor said. “I was trying to stay confident up there, put a good swing on it and stay short.”

After going through a threegame skid, the defending champs are belting their way back into form. The win over the Bats was their second in a row, both victories coming against Towamencin.

“We started off hot, slowed down a little bit, and now I feel like we’re starting to pick it back up,” Connor said. “Hopefully we can string along a few wins.”

The win raised Valley Forge’s record to 11-6 on the year, good for third place in the standings. The Bats dropped to 4-13, four points behind the eighth and final playoff spot.

Both teams are in action Friday, as Valley Forge travels to Trooper at 6 p.m. and Towamencin hosts Conshohoken at 6 p.m. at Dock.

Both offenses got going right away on Wednesday night.

Valley Forge took a 2-0 lead in the first against right hander Zach Hooven. Connor smacked an RBI double to left center and later came in to score on an error to provide the early surge.

The Bats came right back in the

top of the second against righty Mike Anthony.

Bradan Mallon led things off with a double, and with one out, Jesse James Murphy sliced a single to right, scoring Mallon to cut the margin in half, 2-1.

Towamencin tied things up on an RBI double to right center by Demetrius Deramus.

Valley Forge pushed in front for good in the third.

Connor (2-for-3) smashed his second double of the night, this one off the fence in center, scoring Francisco Taveras (single), to make it 3-2. A double by Dominic Proietto (2for-3) moved Connor over, and Allan Goodwin’s sac fly to right scored Connor to widen the gap to 4-2.

Colt Narciso’s RBI single in the fourth increased the Buck advantage to 5-2.

That’s how it stayed, in large part due to Anthony, who threw a complete game for the Bucks, allowing two runs off of five hits. After the second inning, Anthony surrendered just one hit, a two-out single to Jonathan Eyer in the fifth.

Anthony settled in so well that he struck out seven of eight batters during a stretch between the fourth and sixth innings. He finished with nine strikeouts, one walk and one hit batter.

Scott Seiple and Matt Seiple also had doubles for the Bucks.
